The Elder scrolls 4: Oblivion
GTA San Andreas & GTA IV
Mafia 2   Story was decent, graphics nice...  lots of bugs atm though.

Team Fortress 2 all the way!

Far Cry 2's single player is great, but multiplayer sucks ass.

thanks for the replies :D

I did play Oblivion but didn't like it.

Haven't tried the latest Half Life games so maybe I'm gonna grab it.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 currently on my download list

Knights of the Old Republic looks promising.

About the PS2 Emulator I do have it but I'm having problems on the framerates

Keep an eye out for Black Mesa; a mod to the first game allowing you to play it with the Source engine. Still waiting for it to come out. :(

You have to use the unofficial builds.  And then you have to do a lot of tweaking.  And you'll need a Core 2 or better at at least 3Ghz.

PS2 emulation is brutal on hardware.

I have done fine with a C2D E8400 @ 3ghz.  Didn't really require any tweaking.  Hardest part for me was getting the damn BIOS rip from a PS2 the emulator wanted....

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

Have you tried to play FFXII or Shadow of the colossus (sp?)?  Both those have light effects that just killed me (might be fixed in later releases). The emulator doesn't use more than 2 cores, so you have one of the better processors for it.

jrpg PC games I'd recommend:

Sengoku Rance (rance series)
Ys (series)
games by Illusion

Are the first ones from the top of my head.

I like PC games more than console games, since having consoles is a bit redundant when
you already have a PC. The only other games I like are mobile games that you can play on a smart phone
or portable consoles like PSPs since it's easier to carry than a laptop when you're travelling.

Aren't they the ones making all those porn games?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

iirc rance series is also pr0n. I was actually thinking more on the graphics side
since it's practically the selling point of anime and jrpgs. And most non-hentai jrpgs
I could think of could only be played using emulators for the PC.

But then again, if the poster is only focused on western type of RPGs..
Then I'd recommend Dead Island and Dead Rising 2.
