I just prefer a focus on one heroine.  This new method of harems may have potential to be good but it will never be GREAT.

We will never get a Clannad Afterstory-level VN adaptation with the arc method.

this method allows for two things:

1) you can put every character in the spotlight for a few episodes, and give them a good ending at the same time.

2) budget, and return-investment wise, this means that, while not achieving "great" status to a select group of people, the series will have, at the very least, one arc that will please somebody.

in the end, it is a very rational way of producing a harem-type series while not having either a "tenchi-solution" nor a focus on a single couple.
in sum, while not the best method, this is actually the most crowd-pleasing method.
If we only ever strived to please the crowds, most great things wouldn't exist.
never said it was the best method :P

I would wait till we reach the end of the series to see how it pans out, really.

The story arc would be a good model for the series to follow if implemented correctly. Yet if every part of one girl's arc pans out in 4 short ep. this'll make the series feel rushed and you'll never get to connect with the characters on an emotion level, it'll be strictly superficial. Parts of the each of the arcs should be implemented in conjuncture with the other arcs when it makes sense in the overall progression of the story. This is sort of what Clannad did (in many respects it worked and in many respects it didn't). What is wrong with the current story structure is, now every arc in split into a short timeline of events that relate in no way to the protagonist's character development, and basically once your favorite character's arc is over the season ends (like the series could end now and I wouldn't be disappointed =3). This model would be better for a series of full length ova's imo. But it's still only 4 ep. in, so we'll see.

And IMHO, although the sex scene was a valuable continuity device, it was way too sleazy and a overly gratuitous effort, for what would seem a delicate and emotional moment...sure fan-service is great and all, but moderation is great too  =/

Given the nature of episode 4, I think their overarching goal was to show the sex with each heroine.  This is something that has never been achieved before.

Well, not without anyone "losing their heads over it."   :D

err ya so i was browsing Sankaku complex since i hadn't been there in a while and i stubled across 2 things related to this show. Some straight lesbian tongue action
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/10/19/yosuga-no-sora-yuri-ero-anime-par-excellence/

and some straight up sex it seems with the main character and some chick
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/10/27/yosuga-no-sora-gets-full-sex-scene/

Wow, wtf, lol. I only followed this thread for the first several pages initially. It seemed like it was gonna be a serious drama or something, has it pretty much devolved into an ecchi paradise? Im really surprised at those scenes i saw on Sankaku. I skimmed the last few pages briefly and i see people talking about story arcs. Im not gonna read all 13 pages so can someone clarify something for me:
IS the story going the Amagi SS route and having a certain girl being the focus, then resetting and going onto another one? Or is this guy just going around banging everything with a warm crotch?
Whichever the method this definitly doesn't appear to be what i thought it was initially. And looking at the last few pages it seems theres some people dropping the series already =P I was planning on waiting untill some more epps were out or it was done before i watched it but looking at this it may just be a pass, or a wait untill DVD/BDs are out since it appears to just be a titty anime.

what fantasy? what yuri scene? there is a good ol' kiss and the scene is pretty explicit (for an anime) borderline hentai IMO

Wow, what an utter disappointment.  I finally accepted the character arcs, and now it's an echhi show?  Wtf.  Was looking forward to more serious content this month.

How can arcs get serious?  They have 30-40 minutes to develop the story/characters before they have to end it.  Each end will have 5-10 minutes of sex, as well.

They could had less arcs and gone into more details.  How about 3 arcs with 8 episodes each.

Make it 24 episode series then.  Whatever works.

I'm impressed with epsiode 5, i was thinking this series would go downhill like amagami SS, but this is getting better :D
This series is closer to hentai than any other televised anime i've seen... and i mean that in a good way, they should have a unique genre for this, i dont think this should be considered merely ecchi, nor is it entierly hentai, is there something like that?
Why must i wait a week for the next episode, i should knock myself in a koma or something and hope the next episode is out by the time i wake up.

Question to anyone who has seen the episode or played the game:
