Edit VobSubs? (sub/idx files)
« on: October 04, 2010, 06:14:04 AM »
Hi!

Any good tool out there to edit VobSubs? I know they are eye-cancer and everyone hates them, but I'd like to keep the radioactive yellow now. I tried searching but I only found programs to rip them to SRT or the like. I want to open the sub/idx files, delete lines and retime others. I don't need video displaying or anything, just the subtitles rendered to know what I'm editing. I tried good old as fuck VobSub 2.23, subresync works, but the cutter and other utilities keep complaining about vobsub.dll not being in System32. I moved the dll from SysWow64 to System32 but it's the same. I couldn't get the cutter to work :-\

So, is there any "Aegisub" for cute little VobSubs? Can they get some love? Or I just give up and convert to the "evil" side (SRT)? (I want to avoid that if possible)

What does "[sic]" mean? I don't think anyone got sick in the article so why is it in there? Should I start writing and post "[dump]" when I leave to go take a shit then return?

You could always just do this, and then give them a "vobsub look". It's not like OCR'ing vobsubs takes forever.

Too hard for my taste :P

Can't be processed?

Well, all the subs were like that. I ended up using ASSs from other groups, editing them a bit and making SRTs. They were for some encodes I have with VobSubs that have missing subs for the OP/ED and one episode. I had the complete VobSubs for those, but I had to edit them to fit the encodes. I hope I don't need to process VobSubs again... :-\

Why are you converting ASS to SRT?

I've found SubResync to work better than SubRip for OCRing DVD subs. SubRip's my weapon of choice for hardsubbed video, though.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.
