Anime Karaoke?

<< < (4/4)

Don't get me wrong I enjoy a lot of openings  (not so many ending) but wouldn't want any removed from the files, I also think they should be subbed (hmm actually sometimes the lyrics sound stupid in english but its good to know the jist of the song) But for the actual karaoke I far prefer listening to the texture of the words rather than the way they are written down like any music lover would if it was in their own language. Also if your interested in learning japanese surly its far more importing to listen to the way they talk in the show and look at the english translation rather than music where words are timed/prounced differently to fit in with music

Btw did samurai champloo always have english opening coz that opening rocked  ;D afro samurai also (not a massive samurai/hip-hop fanboy just two particularly good songs  :P) and i assume we can all agree there is no point in karaoke if you can understand the words yourself?

Don't we all?

In the famous words of lord brian
"God forbid you actually judge a release by something that actually matters, like, oh I dunno, the readability of the subtitles."

Sure, but song lyrics are hardly important to the plot.  Most of the time they don't even make any sense.

In a few series they are. In the majority they are not. How about the case of a song being written for the anime in question, isn't it part of the experience to understand it, even if it makes no sense?

Oh, it's not entirely about the plot.  Often, it's for the pure poetry of it.

That probably explains much of my view, considering that I see no value in the majority of poetry. ;)
