Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire
« on: October 05, 2010, 07:23:09 PM »
We've all heard the phrase, but if you had to literally be cooked alive in a frying pan or jump out into the flames which would you chose?
And I don't mean die in a fire from smoke inhalation and then have your body burn. No, more like this.

Sorry, as much as I search I can't find a video of a human being cooked alive in a giant frying pan  :( So here's a Korean Robocop Fried Chicken Commercial 1980's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pOoSe2K5DU

although that is one of the most iconic protest in history, I wonder how many people would be able to do that.

I think I would choose fire because it would probably be faster than pan. burning your flesh and rolling and flipping around to escape the heat on your charred body until you're completely cooked sounds worse to me.

Yeah, also because a frying pan warms up slowly and a fire is hot from the beginning so less suffering and faster death. Besides I think with a fire your nerves will burn at some point so you wouldn't even feel it anymore. But the first few minutes would be hell.

realistically physically burning to death (ignoring smoke inhalation) the fire kills your nerves off pretty quick.

Where as frying pan not so much or at least not nearly as quick

That is THE best commercial ever made

OT fire...seems like it'd be faster/less agonizing...

.

Dear Lord, please allow me to die quickly when my time comes.  I have seen far too many stories about how long and painful and miserable it can be to shuff off this mortal coil.

For example, Google news items on "John Jones death Nutty Putty":

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/print/705347362/Man-trapped-in-Utah-Countys-Nutty-Putty-cave-dies.html

He was trapped semi-upside down in a solid stone passage about 18" wide with his head & back bent for nearly a day.  When they had partially pulled him out, the ropes snapped and he fell and became wedged even tighter.  They sealed the entire cave complex with concrete over his corpse after he finally died, because the only option to remove his body was to have someone carve it into pieces while working in an 18" tunnel.

I've done caving, and this is one of the reasons I won't do it again ... not for anything serious or hardcore.

Fire.  Thermo-nuclear hot-as-the-fucking-Sun fire.  I'd gladly jump into that when the time comes, and be thankful for it.
I win, once again, in my never-ending struggle against victory.

You know... I think this concept was actually a torture device in ancient China. However, how it worked as it was some type of metal ring. You had to travel across it (I think it was really hot or oily or both or something). If you slipped, you fell in, if you got around the ring, you were allowed to "live". (Or probably just killed)

I forget who the king was who implemented such a thing, but he's taught in Chinese history as being one of the cruelest that ever lived.

This is the awesomest torture tool ever: Brazen Bull. Awfully similar to the frying pan though. Plus it has an awesome story behind it xD

I chose frying pan!
I'm wondering that how does it feel... I'm also wondering how it feels to:
get run over by a car, gut run over by a train, get run over by a tank, get a bullet in the head, get run over by a Truck, Get run over by a Tanker, Get a run over by a police, get smached by an Iron bar, Get an 1 million volt electrick shock, this list could go on forever xD

I can already tell you that you won't feel a thing when getting a bullet through your head. You will either be dead or if you magically survive a headache is the worst thing you will have. The brain has no pain sensors that's why. Well yeah the hole(s) the bullet will make in your skull will hurt a bit though, but mostly the adrenaline + dopamine will prevent you from feeling too much.
Also a 1 million volt electric shock will hurt from an antbite to a near death depending on the current passing through you which depends on what clothes you wear. But when wearing no clothes you will be fried, literally.

Ah yes, I saw that one too. The inventor was forced into it and became the first ever victim to it.

Apparently the screams through the intricate pipe system was deemed to be like "music" to the owner. A sadistic tune.

I'd probably be in far too much pain too move.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.
