wait NO ONE HAS SUBBED IT YET?!

NO, NOT SUBBED YET. it would be nice if HS would drop Samurai Girls and do Ika Musume instead.

*facepalm*  Horrible Subs distributes stream rips.  Their Ika Musume releases are nothing more than crunchyroll's stream packaged as an mkv.  Samurai Girls is streamed by the publisher the day it's broadcast in Japan, while CR is delayed 5 days.

i'll wait for anyone else to sub it, i cannot watch CR subs. they are the definition of fail.
You say that, but how many CR subtitles have you actually watched? Generally speaking, CR has better translations than many fansub groups do. This should not be surprising considering many of the CR translators are ex-fansubbers and pretty damn good at what they do, and they also get the actual scripts to translate with. Fansub groups obviously don't get that kind of luxury with basically any night-time show (generally speaking only day-time shows have closed captions). Also, Ika Musume is in my opinion one of the best subs CR has ever done, in other words they're pretty damn good. Meanwhile FFFpeeps is having trouble counting to two...

do we have to talk about subs and who does what in groups in an anime topic again ?

the new episode is out, continuing on my earlier post, the new working person is quite "normal" if I say so myself, and very liked by Ika Musume :)

oh man, the whole ghost thing was so funny. best use of bioluminesence ever.

i loved how they show the difference between reality and what Ika-chan sees. those shark and killer whale floats sure were terrifying.....to Ika-chan.

and yay, a new girl enters the story. she didnt seem like much at first, but then Ika-chan got her tentacles all over her.  that was funny.

There are a few cases where i kinda agree with this. I need to finish watching it but from the bit ive compared, for at least Mitsudomo definitely, and probably Asobi ni Iku yo as well. The CR rips are actually the best choices. I've noticed some groups do CR rips restyled or typeset that isn't too bad (pakuru's sekimatsu occult gakuin for example, or Underwaters release of this series)

Which makes me wonder. Do you guys prefer the CR 'squidification' method, or FFF peeps total omition of it? The de geso thing i mean. Im not sure which way i like better honestly. It does get a bit out there in the HS rips and seems like they just throw it in sometimes where i dont hear the geso. I.e. the previews back in ep 01. On the other hand FFFpeeps just completely ignores it, and even stranger has changed the main characters name translation to just Ika Musume. In ep 01 its Squid Girl, in episode 2 its Ika Musume. Its kinda annoying having an inconsistancy like that. I would probably just prefer their release if it wasn't for that and the errors mentioned before (Ice cream thing, 'lifesavers', ect)

Which do you guys prefer? The screw it skip everything FFFpeeps method, or the squideified CR script? Im gonna have to watch a couple more epps to decide myself. Ive only seen ep 01 for peeps vs underwater, and ep 02 of peeps

I personally prefer the CR subs. But I watch FFFpeeps cause there release comes out first. For archiving purposes when the series is done and the DVD/BD's are released I will re-evaluate it from whatever groups are available then. (which will probably just use the CR subs)

right, i wasn't necessarily referring to a particular group, i just meant the route they were going as an example. I.E. CR's route of using geso and translating it as various bad puns of squid vs FFFpeeps method of just totally ignoring it entirely. Theres no 3rd option of just putting a geso in i guess.  It sounds like you like the squid pun versions

As far as groups themselves go peeps has some other inconsistency issues that bug me.

Well as far as the puns go in CR translations, there not inaccurate for the most part and there actually about as close to a translation as you can get in those parts so those didn't bother me from the one episode I watched from CR. Can't speak about episode 1 or 3 since I only watched episode 2 from HS so far.

I think for me personally, I don't really care much either way for this show since the japanese is simple enough and rarely too complicated for me to understand most of it without the translations.

So I suppose if were forced to choose a style, I would have to say CR translations are better overall.

Both suck.  Crunchyroll just sucks more in this case.

Yes, I know this show is meant for kids, and Crunchyroll is making an aggressive attempt to preserve every stupid squid joke.  The problem is that their audience is considerably older than the Japanese audience, so preserving the stupid jokes is far less important.  Unfortunately they're much better at actually understanding what's going on and I get the feeling that if they weren't trying to push the awful puns their product would be a hell of a lot better than the fansub.

Watched the third episode, nothing out of the ordinary.
I liked these chapters more in the manga. Though the flashing Ika was great.  ;D

BTW. It's weird how the manga chapters are organised. The anime makes much more sense timeline wise.
But can't beat Chizuru charge from the manga though. A lot cooler when she does the Higurashi with a knife.  8)

Because we can!
