Yes, I know this show is meant for kids, and Crunchyroll is making an aggressive attempt to preserve every stupid squid joke. The problem is that their audience is considerably older than the Japanese audience, so preserving the stupid jokes is far less important. Unfortunately they're much better at actually understanding what's going on and I get the feeling that if they weren't trying to push the awful puns their product would be a hell of a lot better than the fansub.

Your attitude sounds quite awful lot about "I only watch mature anime for mature people such as myself" or "at least the subs should be mature for mature people such as myself".
Personally I like the squidification. I had some worries that it might get old after one episode, but it definitely worked in the second episode as well. Completely ignoring it just sounds like the result of a translator/editor being too lazy to even try working on it to me.

(click to show/hide)Ika musume is sooo funny. I liked when she went out for swimming with all those inflatable toys and she panicked and all. The first time was funny and then later when she went out for swimming again it was like Killer whale, Killer whale, huh what a crocodile and then BAM:
And she finally found someone who is scared of her. Happy times.
Also I never knew that squids could glow. I saw some pictures and they are really beautiful. Perhaps my new 2nd favorite animal (after bears of course because bears just own everything) :3

About the subs, I like the squidification better than the total abstinence subs. It adds extra flair to her character.

In my opinion the "squidification" sets this show apart from all the other comedies I've seen. Also I love the squid hat.
