UW uses crunchy scripts. Bleh.

FFFpeeps, though you could say they don't TL as many of the puns, has very accurate translations

Allow me to quote something from here:
Quote
Shinryaku!? Ika Musume  Difficulty 5 (9)

Crunchyroll = A- (C), LS-8
The translation part is mostly good. Few questionable lines, but nothing too severe. Concise lines get to the point.

FFFpeeps = C+ (D-), LS-4
Many translation mistakes in the script ranging from serious misinterpretations to minor dodging. It’s understandable for the most part, but their subs don’t always represent what’s actually being said despite being more literal than CR.

Also, I find it quite amusing for you to talk about pun handling when your solution with Nichijou was to use translation notes for everything, which served as a great way of killing any potential fun to be found in them. Jokes are never funny if you have to explain them.

Hello, how are you. You'll find we haven't used TL notes more than 5 times since the second half of the season.
Admittedly, we fucked up a lot considering this was the first fucking time we ever subbed anything, but meh. Apparently people can't get that through their thick fucking skulls that people actually don't just start off as pros. *shrug*

edit:
also, why are you still even alive do you keep bothering me :-/ I haven't even bothered you since... like march or april.

Keep your arguing away from this thread from now on, go on msn or irc and vent away.

Well, now we finally know why she wears those bracelets. Chizuru is dangerous, even when she is jealous.

Chizuru is dangerous only if you misbehave, or do something that might upset her, which means Tomoya-kun should not get near her XD
or Osmo for that matter XDD

The bracelet thing was also in the manga, but it never got translated.

There is something odd about this show in this episode. the Audio doesn't seem like it used to be, I am seeing Ika Musume and the gang being fun, but the audio is like it was done in the late 80's, or pre-2000 at least, you know, the older anime shows had some serious audio, not so cheerful. Like Kokoro Library or pre-2000's.

Might just be me, but compared to episode 1 and season 1, the audio is livelier, while in this one it's not so lively.
Hope it's just me or a tthe worst it's just this episode, or the raw was very terrible with audio (going to check HS and fffpeeps about this)

I was pulling my hair out! I may not know much japanese but I know enough to notice that half the stuff they put in their subs was bull.

I don't understand why people like coalgirls so much. Sure they have good quality, and they sub relatively quickly, but god they butcher japanese. (although if it was a pure translation it would make absolutely no sense they could tone it down a little)

Great series though! I just got easy gif maker and im about to make about 20 gifs for ika musume. The gif potential is massive!

If you don't know anything about something, don't take voice in them, the puns are there in the script. Leaving them in made it what the show actually was, a lighthearted comedy.

Do you ?

I was pulling my hair out! I may not know much japanese but I know enough to notice that half the stuff they put in their subs was bull.

I have doubts.

I don't know half of Japanese cultrue, understand around a quarter of what I do know and am trying to know more.

Japanese "squid" and "ink" puns in Ika Musume's speech were vocalized originally, underwater left those puns in the script in their subs, all other fansubbing groups cut those out.
Coalgirls used Underwater subs modiffied to their suiting in the BD releases for season 1.
If you can't be arsed to read explanations about what is what from fansubbing groups websites, or if you know japanese culture and don't even know this much (although from the quote I presented and what you replied with later I think you are Osmo mk II) then you really need to re-educate yourself.

I didn't take the BD release though. Perhaps the uploader labeled it incorrectly then. I got the series from warez-bb instead of here. (want to make the most of my fileserve account with the time i have left)

The version I download was chock full of inaccuracies and inserted text. And there were no citations in the metadata or the credits. the only information i have to go by is the (coalgirls) in the file name.

If it was not a BluRay release or first season from Coalgirls then it was a fake or some crappy re-encode, because they only released a bluray version of that show.

My anger towards you remains unchanged, you bashed something you didn't verify.
At the least you could have done a crc check and compare with the release.

also saying you understand half of japanese culture is a colossal overstatement.

Yeah that was pretty funny seeing her roaming around like that :)
Then the bird stole her :) I was like WTF!! what are you doing you evil bird !!!

I'm pretty sure the other bracelet allows her to look like a human girl, and some other stuff, but you have to admit, she is far smarter than you would guess, she is kinda silly in general, but very smart, so young and already thinking about leverage and actual physics. My feelings didn't go onto the wrong character after all :)
