Tatsujin:
I don't care what happens in an anime. Inrl, having a blood-related relationship (brother x sister) is not a good thing. They might have feelings for each other so you can't argue that, but it is best to stay away from things like this. Cousins are not related to each other as sibilings so they are fine.

Personally, I don't think that there is enough of a genetic issue to warrant banning.
And I would love to be called Onii-chan.

Cousins don't particularly possess similar enough genetic material to be much of a concern. It's common practice in many cultures (and even desirable) for cousins to marry. [1] The further removed, obviously, the safer. First cousins are only about 2-3% more likely to pass on disease than a totally non-related couple, so you're pretty safe. If that's what floats your boat, go for it! ;)

Cousins-as-incest is a very recent development, spurred by the desire of nations to force integration upon immigrants and to make things more difficult for isolationist religious groups.
In a really close knit social group where marriage between cousins is common, congenital defects are far more likely than in a marriage between cousins in contemporary western society. It's even less of a risk now than when it was common and legal.

Where is cousin marriage illegal again? I don't believe it's illegal in Canada.

Most of the US and Korea.
It's become increasingly frowned upon in Europe due to its prevalence amongst Muslim immigrants.
