Am I doing the correct thing (regarding my ratio)
« on: October 17, 2010, 02:34:32 AM »
Ok so I just read the Wiki AGAIN! and I think I figured out how to fix my ratio.

1.)went to nyaatorrents and download highschool of the dead
2.) went to bakabt and searched for highschool of the dead by the same fansub group
3.) downloaded both files and on the bakabt one *which I could not download or seed on* copied the tracker thing by doing right click>pproperties>copy link in text field
4.) on the nyaa torrent I pasted the tracker link to that file

Now by doing this will I be able to fix my ratio? If I am doing the wrong thing please tell me because I am getting really aggravated not being able to download anything  :'(

You don't need to "copy the tracker thing" if you already have the BBT torrent file.

1. Make sure you have the exact same files - some groups release more than one version of their stuff.
2. Search the Wiki for how to re-seed.

You currently can't "download or seed on" the torrent right now because it's pointing at incomplete files, and since you are warned you can't complete them. If you point the torrent at completed files, you'll be able to seed.

Actually, you can. Just replace your personal key in the torrent with the public one. Don't forget to restore your personal key after getting the files though.

I think OP means he downed the official batch from the group from nyaa and then once completed just switched in the tracker for the BakaBT one (personal key I assume). ...Which isn't the way to go as the SHA hash will be different.

OP; You have all the files from the torrent you downed from Nyaa? Simply download the .torrent from BakaBT, open it in your client, and when it asks where to download it, just point it to same folder where the files from nyaa. Run it, and it should do a recheck of the files, if not automatically (most clients should), do it manually (Force Recheck).

+1

so how can a torrent hash be different?
* file names are different
* file count is different
* piece length is different (rather technical)
* private flag is different

the batch torrent downloaded from nyaa is probably not flagged as "private", where every torrent on bakabt is flagged as "private".
