I think we're paying 44 CAD for 7.5/.75. Technically our package is for 5/.5 but being a long time member, we got a free upgrade. (Shaw btw)

Oh yeah, how could I forget about Bell?

I don't think that's really such old news... I never noticed it before though, to be fair.
And yes, Shaw's had fiber in for a long time. That said, gigabit speeds is new. Their backbone is 33Gbps, according to a friend who got lucky enough to get onto the backbone once. Filled up a whole terabyte in a matter of a couple hours.
And like the "rusty" guy said, the problem with speeds these days is the lack of upload speed. Being a BBT member, I don't care as much about the down speed as the up speed.

Odd, though, that I haven't heard about Shaw doing this, being a Shaw customer in Edmonton. September was almost a full month ago.

We're getting 7.5/0.5 for $37 a month (normally $47 but it's bundled with phone). And yes that's Shaw. BTW I don't think Shaw offers a plan with 0.75 up.

And Bell sucks. Except for their satellite TV. =D

I just laugh at this, the Australian Government over here is already rolling out the 1Gbps National Broadband Network to 93% of Australians, the rollout in the state of Tasmania is half-completed and has started construction in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia with thousands of customers already connected. Australia beat Canada to a FTTH network :P

Great, now even Australia has it, and here we only got 25mbps max on Zone 1 coverage.

I'm paying 45CAD for 15/1 from Telus. Up time is excellent too, I can only recall one afternoon of DNS downtime.

And Telus doesn't monitor my bandwidth usage due to Telus TV also using ADSL2+.
