Heh, interesting to see how much Australia is suddenly jumping. The AUD jumped in value from about $0.60 to $0.95 USD or so in less than a week recently, and now we see the jump from rivaling Turkey right to nearly the top with Internet speeds.

bloody - You should probably switch to Optik, it's like what, $20? For the same speeds too. But Telus still sucks in the end =P

$.80 to almost $1, and thats over a course of 6 months. Which is bloody quick. Economies don't change THAT rapidly :P I think it's got more to do with the strength of the USD going down than the AUD going up though; the UK has seen a similar rise in the past 6 months (albeit not quite as drastic).

I'm not so sure about that, because I only noticed the jump in AUD compared to CAD, while USD to CAD and GBP to CAD remained about the same.

And I swear the jump happened in a matter of less than a month =P

The Australian dollar has risen, as the Canadian dollar has not made much gain over the american dollar recently.

0.97:1, I believe?

Close enough. But that wasn't the point.

It's $37 actually. Those prices are only for new activations. But I don't need TV so it would cost more in the end.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

Better than your previous one =P
It's $5 cheaper than the bundled price for the equivalent service from Shaw, too. But I'm gonna wait until gigabit comes in before switching to anything.

I didn't switch, I (IE my parents) pay for both this new line and the old sympatico line.

... So you have two Internet lines? I don't see why you'd do that, unless you need a line dedicated to something like a business.

One is for gaming/browsing while the other line downloads/seeds torrents.

You don't want to try torrents and gaming at the same time, it doesn't work.

It does work, but for it you need either:

1. A line with fast upload and low latency in general (fiber or LAN).
or
2. A router with QoS. Then you can prioritize game traffic over torrents and have low latency for games. This is how ISPs and business users make VoIP have low latency without having to use a separate line for it.

I have a QOS router.  In my area in Toronto, Canada, the base ping (with nothing else running) is already 70, and it goes up to around 120 when I'm torrenting with QOS so it's intolerable.
