Several problems playing on HD Media Player
« on: October 23, 2010, 04:23:53 AM »
Not sure if this is the right section to post the topic.

Recently i have been transferring a lot of 720p/1080p animes to my HD Play!ON, 70% of the videos encounter some problem listed below

1.During the end of OP or 2-4min at the beginning of the video it keep rolling back the start
2.Either video or audio display as unknown

Is their any possible way to fix this?

Much of these are from Coalgirls though some like LvsB is fine

http://www.playonhd.com/en/#info

according to the things' website, it should work, but i dont see why you can't just use yur computer.

i know VLC has trouble with ordered chapters, maybe this this does too. other than that, i can't imagine why it's giving you trouble. i would call tech support or ask one of the guys at a Staples.

anyway, i thought the website might help, give it a look.

They won't work on ordered chapters, until ACRyan does an update on it.

So you mean it only repeats the opening once and it'll continue on as normal after that?

As for number 2, usually it's because of unsupported video or audio, gimme a title for one of the videos giving the number 2 and another title that's actually working and we'll compare the difference to see what's causing this.

Does 720/1080p make difference?

[UTW-TMD]_Summer_Wars_[BD][h264-1080p][TrueHD5.1][A861B448].mkv Audio unknown
[UTW-TMD]_Summer_Wars_[BD][h264-720p][DTS5.1][8C068083] Works

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works [Coalgirls] Video unknown

Don't have the media player with me right now, do you want the mediainfo pasted too?

Won't be needing mediainfo, but it be nice though.

The obvious difference between the Summer Wars video is the audio, and your device does not support TrueHD, which sadly is used for the 1080p.
Remux the video with the 720p audio, which is DTS and supported, and you'll be able to play it.

And for coalgirls' encode of UBW, the mediainfo would be handy here as I don't have coalgirs' version of this.

Remux = extract the 720p audio and add in onto the 1080p?

TrueHD is Dolby TrueHD 7.1 right? i downloaded a sample from http://www.demo-world.eu/trailers/high-definition-trailers.php to test it out which was working
and several topic i search in their forum said some board works

Yup, TrueHD is Dolby TrueHD.
I've browsed through the forums as well, so did you update your firmware? Just asking though.
But don't do it just yet if you haven't.

I heard one of the recent builds of mkvmerge is causing trouble for many, "header removal compression" starting with 4.1 build and enabled as default, I think most hardware playback devices such as yours won't be able to support this and thus causing the "video unknown" error, so I'm guessing coalgirls probably did not disable this.

So, to fix this problem, just remux the whole thing and remember to disable "header removal compression".

If you're interested, you can read about it here.
