undetz. In Diablo 2, the maximum level -ever- in that game was 85 for monsters. Once you hit 85 and higher, your level scales better with the gear + skill + perks vs the monsters, who are level 85 or less on Hell difficulty. Even Uber bosses were capped at 85. Also, the modification attributes and levels of Diablo 2 is not the same as Diablo 3. This has been expressed by Blizzard.
Keep in mind, when I say difficulty in Diablo 3, this reflects the level of the monster, X amount of monsters, rares, champions, mini-boss-like monsters, attributes and affixes all increase from difficulty to difficulty. This also affects the special abilities monsters can use. For example, on Normal difficulty, you have that same type of monster which does 2 things only. In Nightmare, they'll probably do 3 things - means that 1 special ability was added. It could also be the same or different on Hell. Monsters also behave way too different than Diablo 2. In D3, they become more aggressive and play better defensively per difficulty.
In Diablo 3, Nightmare is basically the "beginning" of how the game should really be. That's what these developers stated. The difficulty is not like how easy you think it is. Don't bother thinking you'll even hit level 45ish by the end of Nightmare. Hell is a higher difficulty and when Blizzard mentioned the new difficulty, which is Inferno, they added that each monster is basically at it's best and reflects their aggression and ability usage. The level of Inferno monsters is no less than level 61. I don't know if you'll even hit level 60 in Hell - Regardless if you do or not, the level cap for playable characters is 60. It means Inferno monsters are stronger than you. You need proper skills and gear in order to live and kill shit efficiently.
Edit - I'll put it in words you can understand. In Inferno, you are not going to one, two or three shot shit the way you think you'll be able to. You can get the best possible gear as well, Inferno is going to be brutal without mercy. Going in and sweeping shit in one, two or three hits is not going to work.
Also, Hardcore won't unlock until you beat the Normal difficulty. So pretty much, if you are thinking of going Hardcore. You'll want a lot of potions and focus on as much life > defense + resistance + defensive abilities as possible. They did add a hot-swap-bar for skills which is on a limited cool down, to my understanding.
The only item you'll ever get to socket with extra Magic Find is your helmet. All other items may either come with Magic Find or may not come with that. The good news about Magic Find is, and because you'll be the only person to see the loot that drops after the death of an enemy or when you interact with the environment (breaking boxes, opening chests, searching bodies, etc), it will reflect YOUR Magic Find + Runestone special item drop? (if you have it socketed) + the monsters rate drop for items based on their magic find - regardless of who killed that monster. You do need to be at least a screen and a half away from that player in order for you to benefit from loot.
Do I make myself clear? I hope I do. This is by far the information I have gotten out of http://www.diablofans.com/ and the Official Internal D3 BETA forums. You can refresh Diablo Fans website every day or two and you'll always see something new on there.
Enjoy.

Cool.
So you agree with Havoc then and are gonna tickle them to death.

Agree with Havoc? This is from my own point of view and proper research. I have the BETA, access to BETA forum and able to post and communicate with other BETA users and Blue Posts (incase you don't know, they're Blizzard), and have done a lot of research to keep myself updated with what's going on in D3. In any case, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the game once you hit Hell and especially Inferno mode - when you play the game.
Save your breath until then. Don't comment on something you barely know about. Don't even think this is anywhere or anything like Diablo 2.

New BETA Patch 13. This is worth noting. Check out the large changes to the game. I'm also seeing "runes" ... which it seems to indicate the new look for Runestones. Jewel UI update and many other in-game changes. New unique items introduced. Titles for achievements and lots of other things.
I'll be updating the client and will do some testing to see how things are going. BETA Patch 9 to 12 had a real nice change to a lot of things. I like the new attribute system and they've cleaned up the UI making it easier to go through.
Edit -- Official Post by Blizzard on Skills and Runes. You gotta love what they're doing ... Skill Runes are being resolved to not take bag space. Excellent feature.

And what does any of that have to do with only allowing 4 people into the same game?

So now it's the maximum amount of players per game session? Have you read Blizzard's official post about why they designed it that way? It was originally five players, now it is down to four players.

I am pleased with the game so far. They've added additional features to control in-game FPS while playing or doing something on your Desktop. Also, the Rune Skills in the BETA were implemented inside your skills and as you level up you unlock them. Basically, and as an example, Bash is already acquired for a Barbarian. At level 3, you would unlock the first Rune Skill which gives you the option to select it. The Rune Skill will change the graphic, behavior (if applicable), attribute(s), radius (if applicable) and may change the damage by adding, subtracting or completely reforming it to be a whole different skill for offensive, defensive or tactical advantage.
Back to Bash and the first unlocked Rune Skill for level 3. So it would keep going all the way up to 6 Rune Skills I believe. You can change it at any given time - wherever you are. You don't need to be in town to click on that alter thing to change skills. Ah yes, that is the best feature they've added in the BETA so far. The downside to that is once you hit Accept which should apply the specific skill you wanted it to be, it will turn it into a Cooldown of 10 seconds until your able to use that skill.
Hmm ... Gold drops did increase, which was a good thing. Blacksmith has more valuable items to make and easier to craft. It would harder to craft items few patches ago since the materials were moderately expensive, expensive to very expensive to make - this is based on how much time spent to gather blue and yellow items.

Because Bioware showed that a successful party can be made of 4 players instead of 5.
1 tank, 2 DPS and a healer is more than enough.
Though I didn't read on their motivation to this decision, I feel that the more players the better. But sometimes that rule can be inaccurate.
If more classes would be added to the game later on, and probably will, this could be increased to 5, but very unlikely.
