LOL @ the hate... For once I don't care if everyone in the world hates it. I think it's a good game. :D

What hate?
I'm just saying it's hyped up as any other bigger game, and bigger half of preorders came to be because of the name. Which is more than likely truth.
And it is made to test out new busyness model with cloud gaming and real money trade. Which is definitely truth.

Just wondering how people see it compared to D2, ignoring the obviuos parts such as graphic.

My apologies... I did not mean the hate here... I meant the hate here...

It's like Mass Effect 3 all over again. People are using Metacritic as a way for people to vent about what they don't like in the game (mainly how always online gameplay is affecting their playtime today). I think once the dust settles, people will stop complaining so much.

As for what Havoc said, he's right. It's nothing like Diablo 2. I think* it's better. Why? Maybe because I think that "failing" at a character build can get frustrating for people. Customization might be dead in Diablo 3, but it honestly doesn't kill the fun of the game because playing the game is the fun part. Killing monsters with multiple skills and spells is awesome. The mood and atmosphere is really cool, but above all... I'm having fun with the game! So easily do some people overlook the "fun" factor in a game and look to what made other games fun.

So here is the kicker. If Blizzard made D3 basically D2 with updated graphics... people will complain. I'm glad Blizzard made the changes that they did to bring a NEW game to the series. I don't care if anyone thinks the game is better or worse with the changes... what matters is Blizzard made the changes and I think it paid off. I like the game... I think I'll be playing it for quite some time... but I think this "hate" people have for the game is because people are irrational and don't understand why always online is required for this game. If I have to spell it out for you, then you won't even get it.**

* This is all my opinion, don't like it? File a petition with Blizzard. ;P

Nice article, I dunno if I hate or like D3, i definitely won't enjoy it as much as I did Diablo and Diablo 2.

One of the main reasons is : You need to be online to even play it SP. I seriously don't like that.

You can just make completly separate SP and MP. People duping, cheating and doing silly things on their computer doesn't have to have any impact on battlenet and their servers. Face it, it's because they want to make sure everyone buys stuff to have extra fun, instead of just editing it in.

And I kinda liked build planning.
But nothing will beat Diablo I anyway :P

Diablo 3 is nothing like Diablo 2. Your money is not wasted unless you want to believe so for whatever reasons you may have. And the hate in that link is obviously trolls, kids and jealous people. All I hear is "WUAAAHHH" inside that link.

There are a lot of errors going on in the American servers so I switched to the Asian servers to play. I've got to say, you can feel stronger through the Rune Skills through each level you gain and especially when you combine them together. The game is super addicting at the moment, I only slept 3 hours today. I have few important meetings I have to do tomorrow and I'm planning to fit D3 gameplay in-between.

Who's been playing pretty hard at the moment? I've went Softcore to get to Inferno and test it out real quick before I switch to Hardcore. I also want the servers to be more stable.

Are achievements completely broken, or am I just unlucky? I missed credit for some in act 1, didn't get any in act 2, and now I log in to find that I've been stripped of them all (with the exception of three seemingly random ones). Good thing I'm not really into whoring achievements here.

Blizzard worked very hard to make this game, do NOT tell them it's not working as intended, they know better :D

Expect a patch in a few days fixing what should have been not broken, I mean, Blizzard is known for breaking working stuff in their games just to fix it several weeks later. After all this beta testing, stuff like this shouldn't even show up.

Reminds me of the time I spent testing SWTOR, 5 weeks before launching the game they switched back to the older build for some unknown reason, the amount of things broken was huge, all the errors were back and were like WTF???

They switched back to new build a week before shutting down the BETA test, but from all I know majority of the bugs we reported were still in the early launch. Those bugs were responsible for quests and often client crashes.

Having a lotta fun With Diablo 3 myself. I wasn't a part of the Diablo 2 thing but I am a fan of the genre it created and Diablo 3 feels like the best of its genre so far. Not that there is much competition anyway. Apart from Torchlight and Titan Quest, most games in this genre are mediocre.

I have yet to see torchlight 2, but I liked torchlight somewhat, Diablo 3 is like an overhauled version of Torchlight. Titan Quest wasn't all that impressive to be honest, but it was fun actually.

I like the game, I do not like the "always online" thing. I'll probably either get or make a local server host program.

The linear nature of your Euclidean geometry both confounds and befuddles me.

So... I hear that thousands of players can't play because of servers getting overloaded. Sounds like an MMO release actually, but that's not the case, right?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

And the best part is, that you can't do even lonely single player, because you have to be on bettlenet to play that.

Sorry, random rant. Had to do it.

Sounds like Starcraft 2 system. You couldn't even play a skirmish game without internet connection. Not ideal, but if this is meant to combat piracy, then I guess it is a lesser evil than the bullshit drm that slows performance of your game.

Maybe I'll pick this game up in a month or two from a bargain bin if I feel bored. For now I will sit out all those small annoying server issues and other stuff that will probably be fixed soon.

I don't believe it has to do much with piracy in this case, but I already said that above.
It's a bit awkward anyway, if you want to combat piracy, do it properly, if you add protective features which will annoy paying people to the point of snapping and running around, yelling offenses aimed at that particular game and yet there is a workaround for pirated version which is actually working and more user friendly than the original within 3 days, you have failed at your job so much that you should be executed by clubbing to death with very small plastic baseball bats.

You know, I said it once, and seems like I don't need to repeat myself, but i will. Blizzard was not ready, and IS not ready.

Problem remains that this is vastly an issue connected with Battle.net actually, and not just the servers. Placing security on a games servers like battle.net system is a poor idea when the company owning such system and openly using it for 3 games already separately, overestimating their server capacity was to be expected. I warned about this, but did anyone listen ?

Claim all you want about this game being awesome or not, the system it depends on is bad.

At least this company has mountains of gold to fix these problems, hence my decision to sit it out a few months and not make opinion from a bad first impression.

More importantly I learned the lesson from BF3 release. Should have waited back then until they fixed Origin server issues... which they didn't. Either way I am a patient man and don't mind waiting and let others be frustrated while probing the new game for all it's problems.

so I heard that there's no character builds or customization at all. definitely do not regret buying this sad excuse for a sequel.

You select skills in a set of six. It's a build.
