so I heard that there's no character builds or customization at all. definitely do not regret buying this sad excuse for a sequel.
You select skills in a set of six. It's a build.
No, it's a hand in Yu-Gi-Oh! card game.

Diablo 2 builds usually relied on fewer skills. The fact you had points was largely inconsequential (the skill simply got linearly better; more often than not you were either sinking a single point into the skill, or capping it with 20 hard points. Even if you had an odd number of points in a skill, it's not like this radically differed from any other combination of points in that skill.)

And stats in Diablo 2 were pretty terrible in general. You could play all sorts of stat builds, but most of them were wrong, unless it was "minimum of strength/dex to wear gear/cap block, no energy (outside of maybe one Sorc build) and the rest in vit."

It's fun. I don't miss Diablo 2's way of doing things. Runes beat skill points hands down. I enjoy leveling, instead of it just being something I have to do before the game really starts. Simpler? There are more valid build combinations than Diablo 2 ever allowed. Sometimes less is more.

Those builds that you claim were bad, are the only thing that Diablo franchisee was built on.
The same thing can be said about Dungeon Siege, 1&2 were excellent, though second had it quirks, the third game was just mockery on the franchisee turning what made the game popular into shit.

The exactly same thing was done to Diablo 3, people that loved 1 and 2 for what it was, will hate D3. And no pretty words will change it.

Not sure I'm gonna go there...

As for the people who will hate D3 for what it is... yeah maybe. But sales numbers will definitely show whether the game was "liked" or not... Or it could just show that there are a lot of stupid people out there willing to buy a game because of the name, hate how it's not the same as Diablo 1 or 2, than bitch about it on internet forums. ;)

Anyways, my DH is badass. I finally got Evasive Fire and I'm just firing my gun (cause it sounds like one) and dodge goatmen left and right! This game is awesome! Compared to the first part of Act I, Act II is sooooo much better and it's really satisfying to kill groups of monsters in a deadly and efficient way I like to call keep away!

I'm silly, I know it. I stopped worrying about stats or builds... just having fun. :)

Beginners traps and inherently "right" choices for most of the builds aren't really worth preserving. But hey, Diablo 2 is still up. Can enjoy it all you want.

Nightmare was hard to adapt as a tank barb and dps barb ... Had to rebuild some of my skills, runes and passives around and hire the Templar. Now, it's much easier with NM gear. :) The addiction keeps building up!

And ... only slept 3 hours today ... I need sleep.

You finished the game yet? I'm taking my time and savoring it. I'm more or less knowing what enemies are where and how to kite them for my playthrough as the next class on Nightmare. Thus leading up to me using the Witch Doctor for Hell Farming and Monk for Inferno. :)

Are achievements completely broken, or am I just unlucky? I missed credit for some in act 1, didn't get any in act 2, and now I log in to find that I've been stripped of them all (with the exception of three seemingly random ones). Good thing I'm not really into whoring achievements here.

Last night (CEST) they had issues with the Battle.net. They rerolled a lot (I lost achievements as well).

Anyone, any idea how to deal with Rakanoth with a sorc? I engaged it several times and got one-hit every time...

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

http://sowhatsnews.wordpress.com/2012/05/17/retailers-ordered-to-stop-selling-diablo-3-after-cbcp-was-granted-tro-by-sc/

Quote
This Honorable Court hereby grants the petitioner, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines a temporary restraining order against the selling of the PC game Diablo III, hereby known as the respondent, to the Filipino people, effective immediately until an indefinite time or upon the court’s lifting of the said order.

Retailers shall be prohibited from selling, renting the respondent whether physically or through online transactions. Violators who are caught or proven to defy the TRO shall be meted with a punishment (smiting or excommunication) to be determined by the petitioner and their God.

Citizens who has already bought and played the respondent are ordered to cease and desist such unholy activity immediately to be able to be saved by the petitioner and their God.

Probably a hoax, but considering how much of a hold the church has over here, i'm not too sure ::)

Is he the guy that teleports on top of you and impales you? Kite him if you stay far away he wont teleport on top of you. If you let him get close pop your glpyhed stoneskin it should eat all the damage either that or stun him with the force wave glpyhed with stun. It took me like 2 tries but thats how I soloed him.

I played a witch doctor with a monk and sorc friend, and we just sailed through normal.  We could lock down basically any boss.

Also, monk seems pretty overpowered.  He is IMPOSSIBLE to kill.  When Azmodan summoned those red circles and stuff...our monk just kept sitting there auto attacking Azmodan.  He tanked everything and his life never dropped below 90%.

From what I see, Monk is heavily overpowered, I haven't noticed it before, but why is Monk holding a shield ffs ?
Monk's are typical DPS class, not tanking class, Barb at this point in game should be the only tank-possible class, maybe WD as well, but not monk.

Stupid if you ask me, but Blizz does stupid things all the time.

Stoneskin, huh? Didn't think of it. But thanks, but I managed to finish Normal in the meantime. I just tried my luck xD. Used Lightning Hydra and Archon and tried to burst him. Needed two tries to kill him. During the second encounter he did teleport but not to me. He fled. :o

Normal is a complete joke with any class, though. Nightmare is much the same other than the nastier champ packs, but on Hell things actually start to hurt (my monk could no longer just stand in front of every boss and tank all day long). I've stated sacrificing damage just to bump my resists up so I don't get oneshotted by certain champ packs (it happens, heh)—being able to focus on a single resist as a monk is a great advantage.

Longer isn't necessarily better.  Remember act 3 from Diablo 3?   :'( :'(

As a matter of fact, I enjoyed Act 4, the shortest act, the most.  I'd much rather do a series of semi-boss fights rather than long sprawling dungeons.

My only regret is that I didn't get to kill that pretentious Imperious.  I can only hope the inevitable expansion pack will allow me to do so.

In my opinion, they took a god damn long time to develop Diablo 3, and it's this short ?
Seriously ?

I don't buy it, I smell DLC and several expansions this time.

Meanwhile there's a link to a torrent that claims to be a working crack on TPB. I'll keep an eye on the situation.
