Short?  So you beat inferno already?

Anyone who stops at the end of Act 4 normal is a fool.  That is not the end of the game.

That is the end of the story anything after that is just grinding and if you like grinding thats fine but there is no changes to the story after normal so yes that is the end of the game. The game really isnt that long. They even made achivements for finishing acts in less than an hour. Also people have beat the game on inferno already so all Blizzards bs about inferno never being beaten during internal test was a bunch of bull.

Sure, the story might be short... but that's why there are multiple difficulties and multiple playable characters. If you think you've seen everything on one play through, you'd be sorely wrong. You can play as a different class, the dungeons are randomized (meaning the rooms change up and elite mob locations change), and different gear is to be looted in each difficulty.

But if you feel that the game with one playthrough is all you need, then don't worry. You aren't forced to play the game. :)

You know, farming may be part of the game, but if you can beat the story this fast ...

Seriously, a lot of people say they had wasted more time on D2 ten fold.

Farm all you want, gear up and all, but that's just it, farming.
Not the first time Blizzard promised something cool and left everyone with a metallic taste on the tongue, from the big fat lies.

None of the Diablo games have been particularly long, especially when players set out to specifically beat it as fast as possible. There are speedruns of the first game in under 5 minutes. It only had sixteen different levels even when actually doing all the content instead of just rushing down stairs.

And the first youtube link that pops up under "Diablo 2 speedrun" is under an hour for the base game. The next few links have a segmented full run (all three difficulties, every quest) that takes a combined playtime of four hours and twenty two minutes.

Diablo 3 is definitely not a very long game, but it's not particularly unusual for the genre or compared to its predecessors.

You know, I was thinking today, and I think what Arenanet is doing with the Guild Wars 2 release is actually brilliant.

Since Diablo 3 released for ALL of North America at one time, it was basically unplayable for 1.5 days due to massive server overload.

Guild Wars 2 on the other hand is giving a 3 day headstart to people who prepurchase, a 1 day headstart on people who preorder, and then everyone else joins in on release day.

In other words, I bet the Guild Wars 2 release will be much smoother than Diablo 3.  Makes me wonder why Blizzard didn't partition when people join better (perhaps by timezone or something).

Yeah... I'm not too sure it's that simple. I will agree though... I think GW2 (which is a legitimate MMO) will launch better than Diablo 3... but that's also partly due to the fact that not as many people will DDoS the fuck out of the Arenanet servers. ;)

The older diablo games I at least had fun with at the time. I finished D3 and then went through nightmare and im like this is boring. The story sucks and the grinding is pointless. I mean If I want to grind ill do it in one of mmos I play. This game might have been good released 10 years ago but in the current world were mmos are a dime a dozen an old gauntlet style game just doesnt have a reason to keep me playing. I didnt pay for the game I did the wow deal forever ago, but even if I did its probably worth a box price for one play through for nostalgia but as far as something to play over and over to keep me entertained it fails hard for that.

Guild Wars 2 wont have even a fraction of the number of sales Diablo 3 has at release. Also the reason D3 release is so bad is because of the real money auction system. 90% of the players are playing on the Americas because they think they can make some money. When the Americas were having all those problems the Asian server was up the whole time. The fact that you change which region you are in at any time is the problem. The game isnt bound based on were you purchase it.

D3 was unplayable for about a day, 24 hours. Unless your one of the really unlucky people. :P

Still it just shows that Blizzard was not ready.
Not ready for millions of people connecting to just the American servers. That's true.

Let's have a more appropriate D3 discussion. I feel like I'm the only person that wants to talk about D3 fanatic stuff. I'm level 57 at the moment, hopefully I'll hit 60 by tomorrow. INFERNO HERE I COME!

I'm level 35 if I recall.  I run a witch doctor.  I can level entire crowds SO fast with carrion swarm + haunt.

Just created the item for accessing the magical pony level too.  Was a little disappointed with the drops, but it WAS only normal.

Got to 42. Finished Act II Nightmare. Was having terrible luck with weapons, but my friend didn't, and thanks to his luck, I'm much closer to his Demon Hunter in damage (1200 self buffed about to his 1500+)

My witch doctor is 1500 dmg base and around 1800 buffed.  He DEFINITELY needs more HP, though.  I have to be really careful to not be targeted.

-logs in 11 hours for today and yesterday- Gonna need the sleep ... so I can SLAY those demons!

On another note, I was so hyped up everyone in my family knew D3 was coming out. The older people kept saying "IT'S THE DEVILS GAME DON'T PLAY IT!" I'm like "Yea, I'm slaying evil, demons and devils!". Ha.

A review that takes off points for a shaky release due to server overload is awful.  You wouldn't do that for an mmo, and you shouldn't for Diablo 3.
