Windows 7 Madness
« on: October 25, 2010, 09:24:06 AM »
Ok first, can some one please direct me to a skin that DOES NOT depend on aero transparency.
I cried at the amount of aero copycat skins. Mac Skins fail.

It looks like McAfee is censoring some sites to push forward it's own message.

If you guys know any other addon that detects bad websites let me know.

I'm also trying to find some nice desktop docks.

Oh yeah what else.. This system language is a son of a bitch. Yay for reinstallation because "Time Settings" was japanese.

McAfee was a bitch to begin with, detection is crappy, system hog, I'd go with AVG over McAfee any day.

This. AVG has a linkscanner, basically it loads up a big "THIS SITE MAY CONTAIN MALWARE" page, which you can just click ok and go to anyway. Which is handy, because apparently somewhere in my own blog there was malicious code, which turned out to be nothing more than an image I forgot to host myself  :-\

Holy Fuck. Installed only AVG Internet Security website utilities, it decided to add a few more features .... Built in scanner + Nod32 + Avg Scanner = System Lockdown.

I had to boot into safe mode, tried to uninstall AVG there, failed. Used AVG uninstaller - failed. Went to system processes and disabled all the AVG i could see, went to uninstall - failed, booted back into normal mode.

Went to install Revo Uninstaller, which only booted up the AVG uninstaller - failed.
Went to install Special Avg Registry Uninstaller Wizard - failed. Went to boot AVG up.. hollow shell.

System Restore Point.

Brings me back to my XP days were AVG deleted its self when scanning for viruses...

Keep that shit away from me.

Sounds more like a dodgy copy you downloaded. NOD32 has nothing to do with AVG, different program by a different company entirely.

Would you be willing to try out Avast! antivirus? Because McAfee truly is a piece of shit.

IMO, McAfee is just as bad as a virus. Maybe worse.

Norton used to be on the list too.

But now I hear the enterprise/gamer version isn't that bad and isn't worth the rebuke.

Years ago i installed Norton Special Grade edition cd came bundled with a motherboard, It seized the motherboard, when i went to uninstall the junk it DEMANDED a password to uninstall going as far as to reprimand it several times throughout the uninstallation, of course the uninstalls failed.

After turning the OS upside down i come to find a uninstaller on Norton CD utility menu, the calamity finally left my system.

Edit:

Oh yeah i forgot. SPAAAAAAAAAAARRRTAA AAAAAAAAAAAA!

Why did you even need a link scanner?
Just get Kaspersky AV, its real time protection is good enough so you don't have to worry about clicking something wrong, and the firewall that came with Windows is good enough.

Thought it was an addon. Kaspersky no go, its memory leaks took up something like 200% CPU.
