Windows Explorer Hangs on Right Click

I'm using Windows 7.

When i start up windows explorer, click on favorites then right click on a folder the browser hangs, numerous people across OS systems have been having this problem, someone recommended ShellExView so i went to install it.

Now i'm kinda confused as to which Context Menu link i'm supposed to disable, i cant quite find the one that relates to windows explorer.

Can you guys pinpoint the problematic code in this screenshot?

A lot of those could cause the problem, disable all the ones from the Context Menu category that don't have 'Windows Shell Common DLL' in their description, then kill all explorer.exe instances via Task Manager, then File -> Run -> explorer.exe, and see if the problem is solved. If it is solved, you can try enabling some of them back, and pinpoint the exact one which causes the problem. If the problem was not solved, Try disabling the Browser Helper Objects (especially the McAfee/SnagIt ones I see there). If even this doesn't solve the problem, disable all that are not made by Microsoft.

you have McAffee. that is likely the problem :P


in all seriousness tho, it could be McAffee doing a file scan when you right-click, since some AV's are quite paranoid.

there is also some "browser helper" things there that sound more like spyware.

you also have "ESET smart security"? that sounds like it's an AV too. probably conflicting with McAffee. you can even uninstall the ESET thing if you're behind a router, since routers pack their own firewall (router firewall > any software firewall), and even then you can use the windows firewall that, alto basic, is pretty much enough to protect you from common threats.

I've found the problem. SnagitShellEx Class ... I went to change the Snagit installation and removed all the addons.
