When I see shit like this, I wonder what the people at Atlus are thinking, sometimes.  They make such great games...and then still fall into obscurity.

Nikran:
Well the exact words were "no plans for a NA release at this time," hopefully they will release this damn game in EU and NA later on in life.

SeventyX7:
Given the nature of the game, though, it was always in doubt that it would be ported.  Given Atlus' financial situation as well and I think it's highly unlikely.  To hear it officially is just like the final nail in the coffin.

Atlus USA is fine financially.  It generated its highest annual profit in 2010.

And that might just be why this one is staying in Japan for a while.  This is Atlus' first PS3 game.  It's unabashedly Japanese, extremely challenging, and is flirting with the establishment of a new genre.  This looks like Index Holdings is trying to tell its Japanese audience that they fully understand what Atlus means to the hardcore audience, that in recent years Atlus has stagnated  with American friendly rehashes and rereleases, and that going forward, the Japanese audience will be the focus of fresh, innovative games.

We'll get this one eventually.  If Atlus USA had been the side wanting the holdout, they'd have made some excuse as to why they felt the game wouldn't be a success here.  They're certainly not afraid of pushing de facto content boundaries.
