Favourite player for listening music?
« on: November 06, 2010, 06:02:14 PM »
(I'll add more options if you ask, I don't know many because I'm myself a loyal Winamp user)

So the Idea isto find out about your favourite Media player for listening music and how many others like it.
Just got this Idea :P Not any real reason. Justwant to see peoples favourite players for listening music.
and I forgot, Tellealso that why it is your favourite player.

So, I'll start:

Winamp, It is the 1st player I used. So it is the onlyone I know how to use for playing music.
I also think that it is very userfriendly and easy to use

for Staff:
Didn't post this in technology just because this isn't any serieous subject, more relexed and I'm just asking people to announce their opinion :P For me, this has nothing to do with Technology, but If you want to move this to there, do so.

1. Foobar for all the music on my local HDDs.
2. Windows Media Player for radio music (which I only use it for AfterHours FM, check my signature).

I use WMP since foobar2000 messed up ≈20 or so albums with its ReplayGain and now WMP won't read those files' ID3tags correctly. Also, WMP+ffdshow audio mixer, since I have 10 speakers connected and foobar can't output sound correctly to all of them (even with the plug-in). Still, I have foobar and still use it sometimes (rarely).

ViewOn.tv is a good media player too.

Hm. I've switched from RealPlayer over SonicStage to WMP and now I got stuck with iTunes. I kinda like it, despite the fact that it doesn't play all formats.

winamp....
I am used to it, the first one I have used and it have never disappointed me, so I will just stick to this one until it breaks down or something bad will happen to it (then I most likely will just go back to older version of it). The only think that is annoying about it is updates...I hate programs that tells me about updates all the time. If it works, I do not need updates....

I used to use Winamp, but I've recently switched over to using Foobar. I prefer the Foobar sound, but I'll have to do some editing to get it to work with some of the Rainmeter skins I have. D:

Winamp. I've used winamp since forever, like from v2.2 orso (it's now on 5.58). It does everything I need from a music player. It plays most file formats and has a lot of custom themes (not that I use one but still). It also works with Rainmeter. I also use it for streaming and it works wonderfully.

WTF is "WMP-HC"?

I use MPC-HC for all my media just because IMO with music it doesn't make a difference what player I use. It's a hassle to have to switch between different ones. Anyway I barely listen to music on my computer (I has me a Walkman).

Picked Foobar, used to use Winamp. I switched due to the plugins when I did a torrent once. Had to fix a lot of tags and it was so much easier to do in Foobar. It also handled my small playlist of ~16k songs better than winamp.

The only problem is that I can't get it to show item index in the info areas. I've tried manually editing it in from the faq/manual content but failed. It helps when you climb above 1k songs in the playlist, takes ages to find where you are otherwise.

Can you please add 'Amarok' to the poll?

Depending on which operating system I using -
Linux:
Amarok - It plays almost anything and has global keys.

Windows:
A mixture of Winamp because of global shortcut and MPC-HC 'cause it plays anything I give it.  Currently installing foobar to see what the hype is about.

EDIT:  I'm already starting to like foobar.  Very flexible.

foobar ftw, although I used to just use my standard media player (zoom player) for everything.
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.
