As a company however they are a fucking amazing company that rakes in cash fist over fist and i would invest in them any chance i could.

For the record I think they are trying to transition away from white to a more metallic style. In fact, only the basic Macbook is still white right?
The cash thing sorta ties in to what I was saying earlier about the company policy. Does anyone else feel that Apple makes their huge profits by making their stuff seem to be like the latest and coolest thing to have? It has sorta become more of a fashion deal than an actual electronics functionality thing at this point. Here in college anyway, people feel that "its cool to have an iphone and macbook" because it means you have enough money to burn on that shiny logo.

If Macs had been bad computers I would've thought it was wrong too, but I'm sure the people that buy them are very pleased. I hope (some) people don't turn away from them, just because Apples computers are considered trendy, as they'd really miss out on something. Every day I hear people complain about how slow their computers are etc etc, and it's tempting to tell them that they wouldn't have those problems if they get a Mac instead.

Ok here is my complain against Apple:
Sure plenty of people with PC's have slow computers and have problems with crashing etc. But getting an Apple product doesn't suddenly make all technical difficulties go away. This is especially apparent at universities, where there is a big concentration of people whose parents don't want them goofing off in college. In other words, you'll find a lot of Macs. I've had friends whose Macs crash far more than my laptop. I've had friends whose Mac hard drives died within the first 3 weeks of school. I've also had friends who paid 1000 for their Macbook and it doesn't have 1/4th of the capabilities of my roommates $600 Dell Studio.
Does Apple have great build quality? Yes. Do they have perfect build quality? Very far from it. I can't accept Apple justifying that price due to it being a higher quality product (especially since the hardware they use is pretty far from high performance). It does however lend me strongly to think that they are more charging money for the image the company has accrued, and for what they call, stuff that "just works". Well I don't want $1600 stuff that "Just works" when I can get $1100 stuff that excels.
I'm not saying I hate the product. But I hate the company for overpricing it, and then making a somewhat deceptive claim that it is worth all that money. Unless you fall into very particular niches, for the general consumer, a Mac just isn't worth it.
NaRu:
There is a reason why Macs don't crash or slow down after awhile. The Mac OS is completely locked down. You can't change anything in the OS. The Mac OS isn't supported by third parties. Windows is completely open to third parties. Also if you know what you are doing your PC will run without any problems. The copy of windows I have on my PC been there since the launch of Windows 7.
