Maybe it's just me, but their singing is absolutely... horrible. As to be expected from synthetic voices I guess. I just don't understand why this is so big in Japan. Then again, I don't understand Touhou, either. <_<

There are just a few songs that are decent, but aside from that... yeck.

Well, whatever, I guess I just won't ever understand it. I'll just stick to Nightwish, Phoenix, Keane, etc.

I can't stand the Vocaloid voices, though I do think it's a brilliant program.
I don't understand Touhou either.

The voice used in Live is not that bad, but you can find on yt videos with sound that is sooo sooo horrible that I dont understand the Phenomen too. But overall there are few songs i realy like.
And Touhou ... errmmm... I can understand why it got alot of funs, but im not one of them.

The thing with Vocaloid and Touhou is that you Love them or dont love them ;p

Android voice, Vocaloid voice. I love their singing and voice. It's remarkably new and different. What more? They can do what human's can't do.

... Do what things, like fluctuate like crazy and fail to keep a steady voice for more than a quarter of a second? Just me, but I don't really enjoy that kind of "singing." With proper training, I believe a human could do that as well (or rather, it's easier to just put them through a program that would automatically adjust their voice on the fly). There's also a good reason they don't do that. It doesn't really sound good...

Just my take on it.

Vocaloid allows a range of music that could not be reached before due to endless legal bindings and corrupt marketing.
While it may sound crappy now it will get better as shown in the Corruption Garden PV. Plus it allows anyone to to create their debut anytime without real time constraints.

I think Keima explains this better on the whole real vs virtual debate.

I saw that corruption garden thing a bit ago. I was like "oh wow this 3D animation is so good, and Luka looks so hawt!"

Then the words started coming out of her mouth.

... yeah, that kinda ruined it for me.

As I said, I love the character designs and whatnot, but the actual singing just isn't cutting it.

I wasn't talking about their looks. That's perfectly fine. >_>

It's just that the actual singing still has a long way to go (imo).

Tatsujin:
New concert just finished a while ago (a day or two?). Here's one video I caught on Moetron but went to YouTube for HD view. More information, pictures and additional sources listed in Moetron's blog.

Okay, so let's get some translation going on these raws before the BD comes out! The full song list for the concert is listed in Moetron's blog post.

Animation's better but it just doesn't give the same impact without the glass projector from last year :(

Duki3003:
Yea, the transparent screen used by Sony gave it a live feeling - tho up close seemed quite pixelarated...
Animation does seem a lot nicer, but it seems like a step back because of it.
