Definitely The Big O.

The voices fit PERFECTLY, and everything sounds NATURAL.

In fact, its rare dubs that I take over original Jap voices anytime.

Though King of Braves GaoGaiGar and Goddannar had some pretty good dubbing.

I liked the dubs for FLCL and Witch Hunter Robin.  The FLCL dub really captured the Japanese inflections.

One dub that bothered me was "Peacemaker Kurogane".  Did they have to give the locals a southern accent?  It was disturbing to watch, to say the least.

They had a reason for it -- those characters spoke in a regional accent that was different from standard Japanese, so they used the southern accents to mirror the same kind of difference in English. Kind of like Osaka in Azumanga Daioh or *shudders* Kitsune in Love Hina. Even so, I didn't really care for the PMK dub either.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

No one mentioned Black Lagoon?! That dub was better than the original japanese, and I think the show was meant to be americanized. The japanese voices don't have the right mood, while the english voices (including the extra cursing) fit the atmosphere perfectly. Plus all the engrish crap was corrected in the dub. It's probably one of the best dubs I've watched. I like to watch some anime in japanese, others in english, it's pretty ignorant to think japanese is always better lol.

I think Kenshin English dubbed was better than Japanese.

Bebop, Macross Plus, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Trigun are all pretty good.  Bad include: Witch Hunter Robin, Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, and Peace Maker Kurogane.  Samurai Champloo was somewhere in between, at times it was good, at times it was horrible.

Well I must say I almost never watch dubbed anime (about 99 % of the anime I watch are in Japanese) but from what I've seen, Inuyasha dubbed was horrible. But I can't really say how good they were compared to the Japanese because I didn't watch it in Japanese; couldn't get myself to after watching the anime itself.

I like a lot/most of the Disney dubbed Ghibli films I've seen, but then again it's Disney gotta love/hate them but when it comes to voice actors and matching characters they know what they are doing.  8)

Besides I got to hear Christian Bale say "How can I live if I can't be beautiful."  Then through a tantrum.  ;D

Wow! Someone else here isn't deaf and can tell Beck has a great dub.  Congrats on your good hearing.

The Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Wolf's Rain, FLCL.... a lot of the dubs featured here all have one thing in common: Steven Blum.  He pretty much rocks.  There are good dubs out there without him, but special credit should be given to him and Vic Mignogna as standouts of english dubbing.

One dub that stood out to me was the recent redub of Macross, not because of the quality of the work but because the english track simply had infinitely better audio quality.  I guess thats one way to make a dub better.

I extremely disagree with you there. I thought Yu Yu Hakusho had one of the best dubs I have ever heard. The voices sounded so much like the characters and the humor was definitely there for me. Kuwabara lol. :)

Others I liked were Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, Gungrave, FLCL, Escaflowne, and FMA. I don't remember any other dubs I've watched off the top of my head, but the ones I listed are definitely not bad dubs imo, even better at times actually.

DBZ is one of the worst dubs I have ever heard in my entire life, including both anime and movies.

I think to have an opinion, you have to first watch the subbed version. If you are talking about the voice actors passion and believability, then that's your opinion. But I highly disagree. Not only was the translation massacred, toned down for 10 year olds, and the perfect example of what not to do to an anime, but in my opinion the voice actors don't even hold a candle to the original VA.

I watched DBZ in the mid 90's before it got atomized by funimation. Subbed DBZ is one of my top ten favs of all time. Dubbed DBZ is probably the worst anime I've ever seen in my life. But that's just my opinion.

I guess I'll be first to say that the Platinum release of Neon Genesis, as well as End of Evangelion are still my favorites, and pretty much the only series that I can make through in Eng. The completely remastered 5.1 sound from the original tapes was amazing.  I love Shinjis screams of utter despair and anguish in the movies too, chilliing.  I would love to see the VA's face in the soundbooth when he had to do it.

Oh and I almost forgot, I got a kick out of the southern accents used by ADV in Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi to portray the Osaka dialect.
