For a while now I've been having a problem that only seems to appear when Bittorrent is downloading.
What happens is that the computer will freeze, lock solid, needing a full reset to come up again.
Things I have checked: Video card, memory. Re-seated both items, checked that I have the latest drivers for the video card.
Scanned and re-scanned and re-scanned with ZA anti-virus, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and DRWeb Cureit.
Also used CCCleaner to sort other potential problems.
Then I spent some money on a couple of fans to increase cooling, so it's not an overheating problem.
It's not a power problem either, the computer case (Cooler Master Centurion5 II) comes with a 500 watt power supply, so there is plenty of power.
I *think* I managed to figure out what is causing the problem.
For some odd reason the tcp/ip stack is being overloaded by too many connections and causing the computer to freeze.
What caused it is most likely an 'optimizer' program I ran, which also (unknown to me) optimized my 'Net connection.
I have since 'reset' my tcp/ip, by using a 'Netshell' command I found on the Microsoft site --->
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357So far my PC hasn't crashed for two days while BT has been uploading, the acid test is tonight, when I'm going to be downloading for the first time since I 'reset' my tcp/ip.
Hopefully everything will go well.
*note: I *know* this doesn't read well, it's been an odd kind of day. I'll 'clean' this post up and explain things in a more understandable way after I've had some sleep.
