Recommend a headset

You won't be able to get much for only that little. If you can spend say, $50 you can get a pair Audio-Technica ATH-SJ5 which are pretty good, otherwise you can get a Grados SR-60i for the same price.
Don't get anything that's branded for gaming. All headsets suck as well; they're all overpriced garbage and sound like shit. I understand that you don't want to spend a lot of money, but spending $50-80 on something that sounds like something that's $10 is crazy to me.
If you want to find some good cheap deals, try looking around on head-fi.org on the buy/sell/trade section.

that's a given, lol.
I do need the microphone though (skype calls, gaymen, various other things) I guess If I had to stretch, I could go up to £30 but that's really an upper limit...
£50 for a HD555!? that's rather insane... I realised a while back that I was realistically looking to buy second hand
hmm... after a bit of research, Sony do seem like a good option (possibly the best considering my price bracket) however moar research is needed!

You're better off just getting a desktop mic with a separate pair of headphones. If you can't spend that much, look for USED headphones. You could probably find a good deal on the ones I listed on head-fi or maybe ebay.
Sosseres:
A desktop mic is a good solution. You don't break those. So when your headset/headphones break the next time you still have your mic.

wouldn't it be more expensive to buy headphones and a desktop mic?
It could work, but wouldn't it seem... odd? also, having a microphone next to your face seems cool! don't you think?
I guess my research has a new angle to consider regarding separate mic/ headphones :-\
