Seeding correctly?

Southrop:
If you ever feel the need to invest in the site, PFCorner offers a seedbox system specific to BakaBT users. You can find more information about that on the PFCorner wiki page.

So i need to find torrents with More leechers? and seed off that?

Just caught something I didn't catch earlier. Seems like you might have a misunderstanding of what seeders and leechers are. Or maybe you cleared it up by now.

As a quick summary:
Seeder = people who are uploading data. As a seeder yourself, these are people you will be competing with, in a way. So the more of them there are, the more difficult to get your ratio up.
Leecher = people who are downloading data, kinda like your clients, or customers.
Ratio = how much data you have uploaded divided by the amount you have downloaded. So, the more seeders there are, the more you have to push to get the same amount of data out the door, because the leechers will be downloading from other seeders as well. If you were to think economics, this would be most similar to a perfect competition type of world.

Didn't mean to sound condescending. Try to read for the content, not the tone.

As a new user, this topic is extremely helpful. Appreciate the veteran responses.

Along these lines of new user inquiry, obviously contributing to the tracker as a newbie isn't going to give me a nice ratio at first unless I severely limit my download bandwidth. Should I just leech first and keep the torrent open until say… 4x ratio? That's what I've got my client set to at present.

I'd like to make contributions in seeding, but I don't want to go about it the wrong way in the first week of my membership here.

Cheers for your replies in advance.

To offset the situation you described, no one gets warned until he has downloaded at least 25 GB.

Im actually having sort of the same problem as the OP. Ive downloaded 18gigs total from bakabt, but everytime I leave it seeding, itll seed maybe 50mb-100mb of each file and stop. I download from demonoid, a file that was 1.7gigs and its already uploaded over 10gigs to demonoid in the past 3 days, while my torrents for here wont seed no matter what I try. Anyone have any suggestions? (im off to work so ill check back tomorrow)

Thanks in advance,
Safiyan
