AK-47 ain't accurate to anything beyond 1cm of the barrel mouth. Believe me I've carried one far too many thousand kilometers and shot far too many bullets with it to know. It isn't designed for that. You could say effective shooting distance is around 250m or so. That's around where you'll start missing a man with double shots or three shot bursts due to the gun's inaccuracy alone.

It is magnificently reliable though. Besides of the lock breaking due to wear only one broke(the trigger cracked from the inside, neglecting auto fire.) That was one out of thousand in service inside a year in our brigade. I didn't have a single jam in it, neither did any of my team mates or any other guy who knew how to spot a bad magasine.

PS. You don't need a scope for 150m, We shot to 300m with ironsights, no problem. That's 1/4th of the target size it is in 150m. And I know guys who can nail perfect tens with every shot out of five, assuming they're shooting at a regular 30cm target, that means the 10 ring is 6cm wide. I'll give it to them, they're fucking geniouses at that. I could never reach that. But I can shoot 300m with ironsights and hit the target no problem.

PPS. Rifles and Assault rifles are boring, pistols, smgs and machine guns where it's at.  ;D

PPPS. You need a license for every gun here and full auto ones aren't allowed unless they're small caliber and meant for the tactical shooting sport thingy.

PPPPS. In japan it is illegal to own a gun.

AK-47 is actually freaking me out wit hit's reliability, even when it's loaded with sand that shit ain't jamming, pinnacle of suppressing fire lol :D
if you have a good grip you can be accurate with it, but it has indeed a large burst range, good for suppressing enemies.

And here you can already get a hefty fine if you carry a realistic looking toy gun on you :p. What a strange world we live in, lol.

Z-Bot:
In my state (US) I can legally own up to two (but no more than two) bipedal tanks.

Although I only own a life-size fully-functional (including railgun) Metal Gear Rex clone, I plan on adding a Gundam to that list in the near future  :P

P.S. I'm full of shit

It's just that the AK- 47 mechanism isn't exactly designed to be accurate. All of the parts are loose on purpose. So it won't matter if there's sand, snow, ice or squirrels inside. But that's what kills the accuracy and makes it a tricky weapon to shoot well. You have to know how to lock the magasine with your arm, compensate little for the gas working loader, little things. The loose mechanism and gas loading means it' won't chamber a round accurately. They won't be in the exact same position and that means the hit ring is larger. There's great variety in the quality of AKs. I've seen some that have a hit ring of 2cm and some with 4cm(When they are new!). That's friggin double! So it's luck if you get a good one or a shitty one.

What's funny is that I shoot best with full auto. 50m, standing, five shot bursts I nail all inside the 8 ring in a 50cm target.

I'm also proprotionally better with pistols than rifles. I'm actually pretty good with pistols. Always have been. No idea why. I do really well, better than 99%, with assault rifles on full auto or bursts but I'm not so good with normal rifles or assault rifles on single.

But who gives a shit about AKs lousy accuracy, 99% of the time you're going to be shooting under 250m anyways. And up to that point it's frigging glorious weapon. I'd have a gun that works over a gun that hits better but doesn't work as well anyday.

PS. For supressing enemies AK is good if you have at least three guys. The trick is to have one guy go full auto 10 round bursts while two shoot two round bursts. You'll nail 'em and they'll keep their head down because they think there's more.
But for serious suppressing fire it sucks. It's got too lousy balance and too small magasine for that. A drum magasine corrects the latter but the 7.62 soviet is a heavy round(compared to 5.56 nato, for example) that bucks a lot so the gun would need heavier mechanism or more weight for it to be good for any serious suppressive fire.
