But in all honesty, I have to call BS on this. I've heard many a tale in my lifetime, but believe you me, I can't believe for a second that someone who's never seen such a weapon before, aimed at them, and being in 'close' proximity of the firing of said weapon, would decide it was best to: "walk slightly faster".
And I've no experience in this, but you said you heard gunshots. I'm gonna go ahead and predict that the gunshots from a rifle are awfully loud. And that place looks like it'd be pretty populated. So that makes me wanna ask, what the fuck

Yeah i call BS on the original poster too ....... you assertion that its impossible to miss from whatever range is just more nonsense its possible to miss from any range, your not taking into account that the guy could have been fried on drugs or serious drunk, or even just very nervous.
I know a guy who was in the Falklands who fired a full clip from a SLR ( FN Fal ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS82s7W_VhA at an Argentinian in the same trench from approximately 8-10 metres and missed,
he ended up clubbing the poor fucker to death.
BIG Kudos to JoonasTo for talking reality about weapons ...... rather than action movie BS.
