Battle: Los Angeles (2011)

Official | Youtube

Release: March 11 of 2011
Genre: Action / Adventure / Sci-Fi
Description: For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before.

I love movies like this. Looks superb.

Go to the Official website I posted up there, hit "Enter Site" and look for the small boxes. Watch the small videos they made. Awesome, pure awesome!

Looks...generic. I never understood the appeal in trying to make action films serious.

I think Skyline looks more interesting.

And haha, Michelle Rodriguez is one bad-ass girl. She keeps picking/getting roles where she kicks ass. :D I can't really imagine her in a romance comedy, to be honest.

Rodriguez in a romance comedy is like Diesel in... what was it called again? He's some über soldier (w/e) and has to babysit. Never watched it.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

The Pacifier. I've caught it a few times on TV, though only because it was running in the background. I really can't stand movies like this where cool guys are put in charge of taking care of babies and teenagers. Jackie Chan and his The Spy Next Door. :-\

If the whole movie has that sad music playing the background, I'd say this movie is worth a watch.

Lol, everything's going to look "generic" in people's eyes. No one really cares because in the very end? It's a different movie set in 2011 with different actors and actresses and some awesome action scenes. These are my type of movies. I enjoyed Matrix to the very end and I also liked Cloverfield.

This movie is interesting and it is pretty awesome. Now, the ending could be a problem since similar movies like it didn't have much of a good ending to appeal to.

The music alone stands unique from other music you've heard on other movies. That's a plus in my book.

Really, skyline? :p No, out of them two I'd definitely place my money on Battle: LA :p.

Not really for any of these kind of movies though, set in current day where most likely we'll suddenly end up kicking the asses of an alien invasion back home. There's just no movie which can bring that into a realistic perspective.

Skyline was absolutely horrible IMO.  I wouldn't wish that movie on anyone.  Among other things, it had a lousy script with a pointless story, characters I just didn't give a damn about, and one of the more idiotic endings I've seen in a movie.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

I was thinking more along the lines of Uwe Boll, ripping off Halo this time, except this has a budget and nobody would give a guy like him money. Which thus makes it not quite as hilariously awful as his work. Which in an odd sense could make it worse.

Unless they end up doing a Jacob's Ladder type thing. You'll know if that happens because everyone will call it shit, as with what happens with most films that actually end up being surprisingly good.

Will it be good or bad? Nobody really knows until it comes out, but I ain't holding my breath...

Is this one of those "made to look like a documentary" shit?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

From watching Youtube, doesn't look like it. You can tell it's a movie-movie, not some documented crap.

True, Skyline was definitely one of the more horrible movies I've seen lately.

If one was to see it it would be for the effects which were nice. Also, Turk from Scrubs definitely has traces from doing Scrubs for so long. I do hope Eric Balfour will get better roles, I liked him in 24. This is obviously a role he's doing to get better roles.
