I know this is an old post ....... The reason am resurrecting it is that i visited the youtube vid this afternoon.
And was amazed at how many new world order/alien autopsy/area 51 alien garage/end time conditioning/etc, conspiracy nut jobs have for some reason latched onto this movie.
Their are many comments along those kind of lines and whether you believe nonsense like that or not, some of it is fuckin' hilarious  ;D
Re-check it out if you want a laugh

Curious if anyone has seen this yet.  Judging from the reviews, it sounds like it's going to be a 'pass' in my book.  Or possibly a 'watch it when it comes on cable or when my roommate Netflixes it.'
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Things go BOOM!

America loves movies like that.

IGN's review is somewhat more forgiving than some of the other reviews I've read today.  I think I'd rather spend my money on beer.

I actually just saw it. more or less at gunpoint against my will.
It wasn't bad. not great but nothing particularly wrong with it. I could nit pick, but I don't want to right now.

One of my friends wants to see it tonight, but I convinced him that we should go see The Adjustment Bureau instead.

My friends wanted to see it so I went along. Add another six people who all thought it sucked ass, and these guys aren't exactly the biggest film buffs either, and yeah. It was pretty fucking awful.

The shaky cam didn't bother me so much as the editing. One guy dies a heroic death but we never see him get shot (and its a 12A so you don't really see where he got injured either), many others randomly disappear - I assume died - and one dude gets shot in the side of the head, is clearly injured, and then the next time we see him they've bandaged up his eyes. One scene looked like two of the marines were about to make out and there was a solid 5 minutes of crying children interspersed through the first half of the film (ever been stuck behind a kid bawling his eyes out on a plane? My point exactly). The explanation for the invasion is vague and moronic at best, most of the times we see the aliens is through a dirty rifle scope, but thats fine cos the aliens aren't much to look at anyway. We get a dissection scene that looked like it was stolen from an 80s B-Movie. The CGI work on the ships looked a little cheap - nothing too dire - but their design was the main problem; lots of bits of debris that didn't seem to do anything. The only thing that was done well was the set design. The overhead shots of the destroyed city were quite impressive and clearly thats where all the money had gone, but the rest of the film was pretty atrocious.

I wrote a full review here.

I loved this movie, it got me all hyped up and shouting, "Yeaaahh!!! *clap clap*" everytime a soldier kills one of those weapon-attached aliens :P

I liked the movie pretty much. Has some sad scenes, and one Asian dude in it (although he fell off the f*$^ing bridge....) And pretty cool action scenes I guess.

I hope this one is better then Skyline...
Skyline did have really nice looking monsters, but the script and so on was horrible. Kept on watching in hope of seeing more of the monster action :D
And I do like this kind of no-brain movies...
I really liked last year movie Monsters...

Watching this now, and wow, it's boring. I've only seen one hour and 11 minutes, but yet it feels like 3 hours. It's better than Skyline with its more likeable characters and a better script that doesn't make you facepalm yourself all the time, but 2 hours is way too long for this kind of movie. Less action scenes and more character interaction, that would've suited it way better. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for no-brainer action at the moment.

And Hollywood actors like Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez makes it look a bit more pretty, but Aaron is the only one who has lines that actually makes me interesting. I don't know what went through the people behind this movie's heads when they decided to cast Michelle only to not use her at all. The other actors are doing good with what they have available.

Skip both Skyline and Battle: Los Angeles; there's better things to waste your time on.

I must admit, this movie did flare a bit of interest in installing Crysis 2 again, and shooting up some aliens. ;D

EDIT: Okay, must admit that it redeems itself a bit in the last half an hour.

Watched this yesterday. It was meh. Not remotely as bad as Skyline though. Final battle was good.
Throughout the movie, I had the feeling that I was watching Black Hawk Down but with aliens.

Oh my god! Get on agent now, bitch!

On topic:
Watched it, although it was fun seeing USA being devastated and bunch of Americans killed, it got boring really quickly. Do not recommend.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?
