Wow, I didn't expect so many people to wear glasses. I'm kinda surprised.
So did most of you people have had glasses since you can remember or did you get problems with your eyes at a later age (like gaming too much :p)?

P.S.: I haven't read the whole thread so if this has already been asked ignore this please :3

I didn't start wearing them until I was 17. One day I noticed I couldn't read the chalkboard when I sat in the back of a classroom.

I got my classes last year in the army. Nice since the army pays for them.

Got astigmatism for a long time but the actual error to the eyes appeared late.

Because we can!

started wearing em when i was 14 i think. my nearsightedness was becoming a liability so i got glasses. contacts would have been good but the maintenance is a pain.

Got mine last year (so when I was 19). Last time I was tested before then would have been two years earlier and my sight was perfect then.

For me It was in 6th grade.
I had to ask my friend what was on the chalkboard and teach' ordered me to go to nurse which led to optician and after vision check (?) to glasses. Logical? ^^

I don't think "probably" is the appropriate word to use in the above sentence...
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

That's why i stick to my usually work route and usually route to town so i know what all the signs etc are, i really need to take an eye test in the new year though. So i guess i'll be contacts, don't wanna look geeky!  ::)

I'm surprised to read many people wearing glasses nowadays. What happened to laser surgery?

I was expecting Europeans with their health care systems to be provided surgery at low costs. How much is it? USD 1000? € 1000? Even if you don't have a high-paying job, you can surely save enough money one year and get rid of glasses the following year. Are you just lazy?

Some people in my family wear glasses (yes, they are lazy, no surgery!), mostly for myopia, so I expect to develop the condition eventually. I had some tests last month, and they say I'm fine. Some -0.75 in both eyes. Dunno what that means exactly, but I can see fine; far away letters look a little blurry, but it's no big deal. I suppose I will buy glasses sometime, and then when I get the time, get that laser thingy.

Even if I wanted laser surgery, I have a ton of things that are higher on the "want list."

I don't really see the point in Laser surgery, for myself anyway, because I think that glasses are awesome.

Me too. I like my glasses and I wouldn't got to lasik even if someone offered to pay it for me. Or maybe then I would but I would still continue to wear glasses, just without any lenses.

Because laser surgery isn't safe, permanent or cheap?

Because we can!
