For Chrome's private browsing, you can just add -incognito after the shortcut's target to have it always launch in private browsing. Can you do something similar in other browsers?

well thats what I do, but yeah, firefox can, and so can safari... IE probably can't cuz it fails :P

not sure about Opera, which is definitely the best browser now.  Online bookmark syncing is AMAZING, if I add a site on one comp it has been added on all!

I use so many of Opera's advanced features, can chrome do any of this?

-Host web sharing and file server
-Sync bookmarks to every installed copy automatically
-Build in IMAP/POP3 mail client

He might be sarcastic?

Opera is indeed good. I think Firefox has a new thing that is similar to bookmark syncing as well.

Hahaha.. as I saw the headline and tried the combination i got to see the print-priview and thought... WTF???

Now I get it, private browsing.... since my Opera client is already set up not to create much of an history while browsing and completely deleting it after closing it, I don't really feel a need for it. Although opera has the option to create private tabs as well.

Since I use URL-filters, cookie-white-lists, white-lists for sites where Java and plug-ins are enabled and so one, I don't really use it since i don't see see a purpose in it.

EDIT: I especially love the "blocked-content-feature". I always LOL, when l read a text like "Join now!!!, and get rid of the advertisement...", looking at the site, thinking to myself, Advertisement???...where???

Installing Vimperator (now switched to Pentadactyl) was the final thing that stopped anyone else from knowing how to use my computer, so it's only me that I would need to hide things from (and what's the sense in that?).

Managing cookies can be done through other addons, similar to NoScript for Javascript.

So, in short, no, I don't use ctrl+shift+p.  Too many modifier keys, anyways.

Does a portable USB version of the app leave no trace?

Correct, it is used in Firefox for private browsing. I use it from time to time when I have borrow someone's computer and whatnot or someone has to borrow mine. It's annoying after a while to have like 12 people show up on a login of sites etc. and I really don't have a need to know what people are doing on my PC.
*snip*

You don't need to know what people are doing on YOUR computer?!! EGADS!

If there is one thing the people at my place have learned, it's that you DO NOT ask to use my computer unless it is extremely important that they do so.

Anyway, my parents have their own PC and 'net connection, they are even with a different ISP to me, which is useful sometimes.

I am getting the feeling that I am going to have to 'clean' their PC again soon though.

What app???

If you refer to Opera@USB or Opera Portable, it's the basically the same program, just that the program-paths have been changed. But as for as configuration goes, it's the same as a local installed version.

Hm...   It caches on the USB as well, so thought it wouldn't leave anything on the host computer.

Yep. As said it's just a change of file directories.

For example the cache folder:
Normal Installation: C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\cache (Windows 7)
Opera@USB: USB-Drive:\PortableApps\Opera1010@USB\Opera1010usb\profile\cache

But Opera (as well as the portable versions) can be easily configured not to use any hard-disk-cache at all.

Not using it and do not plan on using it.
I am the only one who uses this comp and I have nothing to hide :)

That never works, especially with 2$ a sheet hard paper.

I use Ctrl + Shift + P. It is my pause/play global hotkey button in my media players. I also use private browsing when I have people over and quickly want to visit...
