Remington Rifles new game in bad PR blunder ???

#2. OP is arguing that a gun company should not be involved in PR that has negative views of the company (Irrelevance of the nature of the game.)

#3. People are saying there are no issues with such a game in general. (Irrelevance of the nature of the company sponsoring it)

While it could be true that a gun company should not portray the use of their product in a negative light, is that not what automotive companies do on a regular basis with crash test footage? Some may argue not as drastic, but is that essentially true? Nascar shows vehicles driving in a circle and crashing. Should car companies be worried about their involvement?

In my opinion, it's not a huge issue to have a gun company support development of a game like this.

Another option, is it legit for computer companies to host hacker competitions?

What is the difference between art forging and restoration? Merely intent right? Someone can easily argue the game gets rid of people's desire to hunt endangered species by allowing them to act it out, OR cause them to want to hunt them more. The GTA debate was like this at least half a decade ago. I still am waiting for the epidemic of individuals running around, gunning people down and stealing cars.

Automotive companies use crash test footage to grab people’s attention and to highlight safety issues.  They effectively take a negative situation and turn it around so people can see it from a positive angle.  I don’t see a gun company being able to do the same thing with a game about hunting endangered species.  At best, maybe they’d send mixed messages to people.  (“For every copy of Animal Assassin sold, we’ll donate $5 to the WWF!  Help PETA by gunning down in-game critters instead of real life ones!”)

I dunno, I think it’s kind of funny personally, but in this case, I agree with the OP that this is a bad idea from a purely PR perspective – I imagine that more people would see this in a negative light than in a positive one, simply because of the stigma associated with killing endangered species.

I don't see the point, or the accuracy of your post ....... who is hating ???
We have had one teenage tantrum but thats to be expected.
Who's making allegations ??
As far as am aware no one has made any allegations at all on either side.
Somewhat of a clear difference of opinion ......... but hey welcome to life as we know it  ::)

This is the GAMES section i spotted the GAME and thought it was both amusing and crazy that Remington had let themselves be associated with it ....... so a made a post as i thought others might at least find it amusing.

End thread/

P.S am going to go finish off making Lasagne now  ;D
