Looking for an FPS, Nice and simple, speccs don't matter.
« on: December 03, 2010, 08:02:15 PM »
Best if it's not something Bethesda made, most of their games are so boring, they only look nice, but anything is just boring, Fallout:Las Vegas was interesting but after getting what I wanted, pretty much no enemy got close enough to me to actually land even a ranged hit (Gauss Riffle has too large rate of fire, too high damage, and is a bit too big and frigging overpowered!)

Black Ops is out of the question, I'm interested in a good slaughter, can be TPS or FPS, but must be a slaughter, thought of Saints Row 2 but it quickly became boring, damn not enough games like Quake, where you only had to raise your gun and pull the happy trigger, and enjoy the corpse falling down, any ideas will be considered, so feel free to throw anything, BTW, I completely enjoyed Jerycho, and am also interested in games of that caliber, so as I said, feel free to throw ideas :)

heard of this?
it's based on the quake engine, so it should please your instant win fantasies, essentially think of it as a very fast version of most games because... well... Quake engine.

oh yeah, it's free, so give it a shot... it might not be what you're after but it'll definitely keep you entertained for about hour at least. not bad for a freebie eh?
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

Fallout is not FPS, neither is Saints Row :P Anyway since you didn't specify the age of the game I'll recommend Serious Sam and ofcourse Painkiller. And if you want SLAUGHTER and are not fixed on TPS/FPS you should totally check Dead Rising.

Serious Sam second encounter is still the King when it comes to FPS. No needless complications. Just enemies, enemies, enemies, bigger enemies, badder enemies, exploding enemies.

Just shoot 'em all!

Especially fun in multi with a friend. Hearing him panic when the chainsaw guys approach is always priceless in the jungle maps. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY COMING FROM? I can't see past my own gun here!

I blame you now Havoc. I started DLing Quake 4. Got to play it again. This was the needed spark for it.
Considering Quake 2 too. But I've finished that game 100% one time too many.  ::)

Because we can!

Serious Sam 2 is so darn good when it comes to
shooting everything that moves, gotta dig up my
copy and play it through again =)

Didn't like First and Second Encounter as much
but they're good too.

Weird, most people I know tell otherwise. Serious Sam 2 just didn't feel like the real Serious Sam game and didn't have as much humour.

My personal favourite is Second Encounter level called "poor Newton"  ;D
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Real talk: Counter Strike.

Only if you played since 1.3 or earlier ;)

It died when 1.6 came out and since the major CS:S update to the orange box engine.  :/

1.6 is still plenty active and well liked. CS:S is perhaps slowly taking over along with other competitors as there is less new people and others move on after years.

1.6 is still one of the bigger CPU FPS games when it comes to competitive play or at least it was up till a couple years back.

Saying that about counterstrike when it came out around the same time as medal of honor if memory serves thats quite impressive.

Ive played CS since 1.3 beta. I currently play cs:cz most often, while occasionally jumping into source and 1.6.
Unfortunately my skill is to the point where I regularly get banned from servers for hacking when I don't. Been playing for something like 11 years, its only natural.
