Mikan is not only pretty but very smart as well, she can guess what people think during conversations, she pretty much knows about every girl that likes Rito, but so far, Yami-chan remained undetected, although she herself admitted that to herself at the very end of the second season.

Heh, personally, I think Mikan has a 'girl crush' on Yami.

Not a full tilt 'love' thing, she just really, really likes being around Yami, more than 'best friends forever', but less than 'lets get it on', if you know what I mean.

I suspect that if there is a 3rd season coming, Yami will be seen even more in it.
This season saw Yami 'exploring' her 'self', as in feelings she isn't used to and how to deal with her reactions to those feelings and other things she is finding out about herself.
I just realized that this is something I *should* have written about in my review, among one or two other things.

Something to do when I crawl out of bed in the morning.
Oh wait, it IS morning here.
About 2:45am more or less.

I think there isn't anyone who wouldn't have any crush on Yami-chan, and yeah, she did explore a lot about herself, she was always looking a bit down at herself, now she had a lot of time to see herself as a living being, she started respecting herself a lot more, Mikan helped her a great deal, so did Rito and Lala, Mikan feels about Yami more like as a sister I guess, I think that would be the best way to describe it.

It wouldn't surprise me if Mikan decided to have Yami-chan live with them in their house, Having Yami with more screentime is a lot of happy, but I also want more about Mikan, if Lala's mother is to show up in the anime, she will in the third season, should it arrive. I just might start reading up the manga, but for some reason the show is too nice to make me think there could be any deviation from the main plot.

As much as I love Lala, I want also more about other girls, we learned a bit about the prez girl, a little bit into Mikan's school life, but we need more.

"Asobi ni Ikuyo!"..... turned out to be something I was not expecting.

I chose this as my next anime to watch based on about the first 5 minutes of the first episode.
What I saw in that first 5 minutes made the series look like it was going to be an ACTION, blood 'n' thunder anime......

I was wrong.... sort of.

It turned out to be an action/comedy/romance(?).

I guess I should have payed a little extra attention to that "!".
Pretty much any anime I've seen that has "!" at the end of it has been comedy or along that line.

If you are into Nekomimi in any way shape or form, this is for you. There is also a Doggirl ( Jen, Female with floppy dog ears) that is also rather nice.

The basic storyline goes something like this;
Our hero, Kio, meets a girl with cat ears and tail at a memorial service for one of his ancestors.
Unfortunately, he drinks something there makes him pass out.
The next thing he knows, he wakes up in his bed at his Uncles house, sits up and notices a lump in his bed next to him, which he uncovers to find.... the catgirl from the memorial, Elis.
Did I mention Elis is rather well stacked?

From here we find out that not only are Elis's ears and tail, very firmly attached, Elis herself is an alien, from Catia.

From here, we find out many many things.

Elis is on Earth as an observer and data collector. To help her in this job, she has a number of small robots called, 'assistaroids'.

We also discover that two of Kio's school friends, Aoi and Manami and one of his teachers, Maki, are not what they seem.

At one point, we discover that Aio is in love with Kio, but hasn't proceeded past calling him 'Kakazu', his family name.
It seems that Manami, while being Kio's childhood friend, has convinced herself, that she isn't in 'the game' and so sets herself to helping Aoi winning Kio away from Elis, who has her sights set on him as her first 'mate'.

As the anime progresses, we discover that there is another alien on Earth, but this one is from 'Dogisia' and she intent on preventing 'Catia' from opening diplomatic relations with Earth.
It appears that at some point 'Dogisia' did something bad and the Galactic leaders, the "Orsonians"**, beings of pure intelligence, have stated that the 'Dogians' shall not open diplomatic relations with any other race again.

The anime moves along a path where various people try to and on a couple of occasions, succeed in capturing her, but our girl Elis is very capable, plus she has some very determined friends to come to her rescue by this time.

In amongst all this, we meet the crew, including the Captain (Cuune), Doctor (Dyureru) and other ranking officers of the main Starship, that Elis is part of.

The last three episodes are where the action picks up.

The Dogians launch a nefarious 'sneak' attack on the main Catian Starship, causing it to run out of control on a collision course with Earth.
How the good guys manage to sort that out is something you will have to watch the anime to find out.

Suffice to say, it's a 'happily ever after' ending, with a few things left undone. There is room for another season, but to tell the truth I won't be in any great rush to watch it.

** The name may not be correct.

Going to watch 'Sasameki Koto' next, for a change of pace.

edit: I was just wondering how many actually look at this thread..... and then noticed that it has over 6500 views.
I guess that means a lot of people are at least checking the thread to see what is going on in it.  This makes me happy.  :D

Mic, no offense :)
if you know what the title says, it's pretty obvious :D
"We came here to play!"
is what the anime title is.
I loved this show, and not for the echii, I love fun anime and this was rather fun :)

My problem is.... I don't read Japanese. lol

Maybe I should start using a translator on the titles, so I have some idea of what I am getting into.

Anyways, I suspect I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't expecting something else.

Mind you there was plenty of action to go around.
As for it being ecchi.... I didn't really notice, there was actually very little to see.
Maybe I'm learning to ignore it in favor of the story.

As far as Elis goes..... I want one.  :D

I'm not reading the manga but supposedly it's quite ahead, I don't bother myself with echii, it's part of the show so I accept it, even if the ass is the only thing that the screen shows atm, but yeah, I want more of this show soonish, there is an OVA planned I believe, but not sure, I wan't another season :)

Just watched the last episode of "Sasameki Koto", which translates as "Whispered Words".

It's an anime about girls that like girls.

Yes, it's yuri, but it's definitely NOT porn.

Rather it is a very well written, sensitive, sometimes funny, sometimes sad story about a group of girls, revolving around two girls in particular, Sumika and Ushio.

Sumika loves Ushio. This becomes very clear early in the anime, but Sumika has a problem.

Sumika is attractive, intelligent and athletic...... but she is tall, taller in fact than a lot of the boys at her school.
This is a problem because Ushio likes 'cute' girls and tall is not 'cute' in Ushio's mind.
Besides, Sumika is not Ushio's 'type'.

Ushio is unaware that Sumika loves her and only sees Sumika as a very close friend.

As the anime moves along, we see a lot of situations that you would normally get in a boy/girl relationship.... but with two girls.

We also have 'comedy relief' in the form of Akemiya Masaki, a guy who sometimes dresses as a girl and Torioi, a 'normal' girl, that is one of Ushio and Sumika's friends.

The anime is, in general, a 'Slice of Life' anime.
The artwork is well done and the music fits the series very well, being mostly piano and semi-orchestral pieces.

At one point in the early part of the anime, Ushio and Sumika happen to come across two girls in a classroom.
As they stand there watching, the two girls kiss and Ushio and Sumika beat a hasty retreat.
Eventually they meet up with Tomoe and Miyako, a confirmed 'couple' at school.

There is a lot more I could say about this anime, but I won't.

It's a relaxing anime to watch and as I have said, despite it being about girls who like girls, it's not porn in any way shape or form.

There are the obligatory beach and pool episodes, but it's just eye candy and they actually manage to use those two episodes to move the plot around a bit.

This is one of those unexpected gems you find occasionally and the only bad thing I have to say about it, is that the last episode just..... ends.

Sure it leaves room for another season, but the major string left untied is how the relationship between Ushio and Sumika ends up.
Of course they (the people who made the anime) could be leaving it to our imagination.

I think I'm going to have to go and read the manga to find out how it REALLY ends.

Now to watch the Lucky Star OVA.... no, I'm not going to review it.  :P

Yeah, I have a tendency to miss things that aren't really obvious.
Add to that the fact that I probably don't know some of the 'classic' references you are talking about, so I can't really pick up on them. lol

Then again, sometimes I pick up on things that people seem to miss, so it works out more or less even.

Edit: Watched the Lucky Star OVA. It made me laugh and was just like I remember Lucky Star was. The live action 'Lucky Channel' at the end was kind random, but the girl was *SO* cute!
Watching "Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou"( [Ryuumaru] release) next.

"Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou"

What to say about this anime.

It's full of action, if it was a book, I'd say that it was real page turner.

It has magic users, cute girls, Dragons, cute girls, Monsters, cute girls, creepy bad guys and did I mention that it has cute girls?

Meet the Players!

Sai Akuto. He's the 'new guy' transfer student into the 'Constan Magical Academy".
On his way there he helps an old lady recover her baggage and meets up with...
Hattori Junko. After an initial misunderstanding, they become 'insta friends'.
Soga Keina. A girl who doesn't seem to know very much magic at all and is a bit of a scatter brain, but she can fly at will and turn invisible! Note that SHE can turn invisible.....not her clothes.
Etou Fujiko. The school idol. She becomes obsessed with Akuto after a certain incident. Is also the head of a secret group of students that use black magic.
Miwa Hirosho. He becomes Akuto's second friend at the school.
Torii Mitsuko. The students homeroom teacher. Also the school doctor.
Teruya Eiko . Junko's bitter rival. Watch for her first meeting with Akuto, it's very..... interesting.
Lily Shiraishi. Student Council President. Wears a hat that is seemingly alive.
Korone. One of the cutest androids I've seen for a long time. Assigned to 'observe' Akuto, by 'The Council'. Loves to tease Akuto.
Yamato Bouichirou. The main bad guy......maybe.

Well, there is so much happening in this anime, that I don't really know what to write.

Things start to take off, when Akuto's class is given a medical examination and a job prediction, by a magical creature who has never been known to be wrong.
It all starts to go pear-shaped for Akuto when he is told his job will be..... "Demon King".

From there the story shoots off in all directions, or so it appears to me

The main thread that holds it all together is the fact that Akuto doesn't really want to be the 'Demon King', he just wants a 'normal' school life.
Eventually though, he comes to realize that he doesn't have much of a choice, but he decides to do it his way, with as little destruction as possible.

We get to watch Akuto as he learns he has incredible power..... and as he learns to control it, doing both destructive and useful things in the process.

There is a lot of music in this anime, all of it J-Rock and J-Pop. The OP had me tapping my foot and I actually watched it right through a few times.
There is some ecchi and nudity, but it's fairly well done and not really out of place for the most part.
However, there are a few scenes that are a little over the top, but they are done in such a way that it's funny.

The art is good and the character design is well done.

It's a good anime, the action comes thick and fast, but it somehow felt a little rushed, like there was stuff that was left out.

Next one to watch is..... Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru.

It was said and it was answered :D
in a different topic though, anyways, your reviews are objective, and that is good, you point out it's from your point of view which is another plus.

Making a blog would be a nice idea, but also a bit of work for you, you should make sure you have time for it, there will be definitely more replies than ours, and our posts are simply pointing out stuff you might have missed, or simply discussion about things and probably a bit of "I add this anime to your never ending list" arguments :D

As my 'to watch list' is starting to get down to the end, I've added a couple of anime that I recently discovered have had second seasons released that have been completed.

They are;

Toaru Majutsu No Index II (2010)
Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu! (2011)

I enjoyed the first season of both of these anime, so they have been added to the list in the OP of this thread.

Mind you, a couple of the anime that in line ahead of these are 40+ episodes, so it will be a while before I get to them.
Also, I will be getting down the various anime that have been recommended to me in this thread, all I have to do is read through the whole thread and pick them out.... ::)

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru...... can't be translated fully by the Google translation thingy.

Apart from that, it's a interesting and different anime.

It is based on the manga of the same name, but doesn't follow the manga in sequence, rather it seems the anime takes a story arc from the manga at random and builds an episode or sometimes two on it.

Soredemo, is yet another 'Slice of Life' anime that follows the goings on of a small group of people.

This group of people are;

Arashiyama Hotori, a high school girl that we first meet in her 'Grannies' cafe, dressed as a 'maid'.
Isohata Uki, Hotori's 'Grandmother', who runs a cafe and has had the idea that turning it into a 'Maid Cafe' will bring in more customers.
Tatsuno Toshiko, one of Hotori's friends. Wears glasses and is good at ping-pong (table tennis). Has a pretty good idea of how a 'maid' should behave. She is interested Sanada.
Haribara Harue, another of Hotoris' friends. Has a good personality and can eat an apple through a fence. Awesome ping-pong player. Plays the drums.
Sanada Hiroyuki, seemingly the only male friend of her age that Hotori has. Is interested in Hotori.
Kon Futaba, when Hotori first meets Futaba, she thinks she is a he, but she isn't. Blonde with an attitude, likes her tail-less cat, plays a wicked bass guitar. President of the ping-pong club apparently.

The OP for this anime sounds just like something out of a 'Broadway Musical', the singing is good and the opening footage is nice to watch.
On the other hand, the ED is pure rock...sort of. Our 'maids' in a band, bass guitar, violin(!), drums and piano accordian(!!). Sounds good for the most part with a cool bass riff. Note that only two of the band members are actually 'maids' at the Cafe, the other two Kon and Haribara are members of the ping-pong club and so can't work at the cafe.

Our 'heroine' is Hotori, a laid back, reasonably attractive 16 year old high school student, who while she seems to do well in most of her other classes, fails miserably at maths, to the major annoyance of her maths teach, who is also her homeroom teacher.

This anime doesn't really have a story as such, it just follows what happens to Hotori, her friends and people she meets along the way.

For the most part, the anime is reasonably light, easy to watch stuff, although there are one or two episodes that had me cringing a few times from the 'awkward' atmosphere.
One of the big things we discover is that Hotori wants to be a detective, but we discover there isn't much chance of that happening due to the fact she can't even see that Sanada wants to be more than just friends with her.
The other thing that is going is that Hotori knows that Tatsuno likes Sanada and she is supporting her in her chase.

Hotori's Grandmother, who isn't really, is sharp as a tack, despite her age.

One thing I found interesting, is that there are 'parables' at the start of each episode, I think that is what they are at any rate.
The other thing I found annoying and odd are the occasions where Hotori's dog, Josephine, will suddenly popup on screen and say some sort of nonsense thing.

There are a small handful of parts that have been censored and they have chosen the 'light beam' to do it, but as there are very few scenes that use this, maybe three over the whole series, it's not so bad.

The last episode, while it didn't have me in tears, is a little sad, but it all ends well.

There are references to a couple of other anime in Soredemo, K-On! and Sayanara Zetsubo Sensai are two I picked out, but there may be more.

I can see another season of this coming maybe.

Going to watch 'B Gata H Kei'..... I hope it has some sort of a storyline. I have heard it is funny though and that is also good.

The title translates into:
"And yet, the city moves on/keeps on moving"
depending on intonation, but that's pretty accurate :)
My fav was the pure fanservice episode where they were stark naked in the laundry store XD
But in all seriousness... no, can't be serious about this show, it was very entertaining :D

heh, yes I found out when I added it to my 'MAL' list.

One thing, they were never naked, they still had bra/panties on and due to the light ray thing and cleverly placed wall fixtures, I never got to see any of it. meh.

As for being serious..... you are correct, it's impossible to be serious about this anime the only episode that was anywhere near serious was the last one and even that was done in a really sensitive way.
