Scrapped Princess - the review.
This may be a little tricky to write as I took a LONG time to watch this anime.
First a cut and paste from AniDB, because I'm feeling lazy. Mind you I have rewritten it..... a bit.
Usually, the birth of heirs would be a joy to any kingdom, but at the time of the birth of the royal twins, it was prophesized that if the girl child reaches her 16th birthday, she would be the cause of the destruction of the world.
Out of fear of the prophesy, it was decided that she should not be allowed to live and the little child was cast off the highest cliff to a certain death.
Pacifica, the child of whom the prophesy spoke, is now 15 years old and traveling with her adoptive brother (Shannon) and sister (Raquel) who are dedicated to protect her.
Chased by various forces dedicated to see that the sentence of death is carried out, Pacifica is compelled to hide her identity and to rely on the strength of her brother's sword and the mastery of her sister's sorcery to stay alive.
End cut/paste.
Meet some of the characters.
Pacifica: she is the 'Scrapped Princess'. Blonde and a bit of handful, she is used to being a bit spoiled. Loves eggs and food made out of them. Not much good at anything except maybe washing clothes.
Shannon: Pacificas' older brother. With dark hair and a good solid build, he is a bit of 'eye candy' for the ladies out there. He is a 'D-Knight' and amazingly good with a sword. He is Zefiras' 'master'.
Raquel: Shannons' older sister. She also has dark hair, like her brother. Seems to be a bit of an air-head, but that may be because she has a relaxed outlook on most things. She is also a skilled magic user.
Zefira: An AI from the 'old days'/'genesis wars'. She can walk, but tends to 'float' in the air. Despite her childlike stature, she is definitely 'grown up' in attitude. When she joins with Shannon, they become the weapon system known as a 'Dragoon'.
Leo: A knight in training. Light brown hair, rides a white horse called 'Parabellum'. Uses a very large sword. He meets up with Pacifica and company on the road and ends up tagging along.
The whole series is based back in the time around the middle ages.
Transport was by foot for poor people, ox-cart for the masses, horses for people who were well off and horse drawn carriages for the wealthy.
No firearms except for cannons and sail powered ships.
BUT...... then we get to the fact the time is in what sounds to be the FUTURE, 5000 years after the 'Genesis Wars'..... so where are all of the flying cars, laser guns and whatever....
They are around, but Arthur C Clarke said this,
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
So, that pretty much covers it.
The characters are well done and you will either like them or hate them, depending on the character.
Artwork is nice, with some good backgrounds and scenery.
The storyline is pretty strong and doesn't have to resort to 'filler' episodes at any point.
There is drama, comedy and a fair bit of action.
The ladies are attractive for the most part and the guys are handsome, but the best thing is that there doesn't seem to be any of them that look alike, except for a very few examples and there is a reason for that.
In the end, this is a good anime, which I would have watched on a regular basis, but I got distracted by something else.

Still, it is definitely worth watching.
Watching "Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica" next.
