It's got a possibility to put the roof on, right?
So what's lacking? Skill?
Only one option.
Take it out more!
I'm quite skilled in the snow thank you... I've driven 400hp rear wheel vehicles in a foot of snow. It's do-able, is it particularly safe? No!
My concern isn't my level of skill, it is the level of safety. My vehicle does not have ABS, is front heavy, rear wheel... and is not designed for snow.
My 2nd car, was front wheel... had abs and traction control... and was quite easy to drive in the snow, considerably more so than the Stang. I do not desire to subjugate myself in a dangerous situation (a foot of snow with a stang is not particularly safe).
Aside from that, I don't like snow in the first place... I hate the cold, and I dislike falling on my ass due to some ice strategically placed under a white coating. I do not like what the salt (that is used to melt the snow) does to my car.
Snow is pretty for all of a day, then it becomes mixed with mud and dirt... and just becomes a nuisance!
I don't see how that makes it less safe that it's RWD or front heavy.
If it's front heavy, that's good for safety. It stops faster, it goes where you want it to go when you really need it to, which is when you have to evade something.
RWD is mostly a problem if you're not skilled with them or you like to accelerate a lot and fast. The clutch's there if you need it. As for driving through a lot of snow, just stay on the same tracks(the same goes for FWD's and reversing, also propably the best option after 4WD in snow).
ABS can be replaced with some training, not completely in winter but pretty well.
Falling on your ass in winter, I wonder when I've last had that. It's so far away I can't even remember. Enough falls and you start to want to stay up.

God damn road salt, good thing most cars are well protected against it. Some however...(I'm looking at YOU 99 Ford Focus!)
But motorcycles, AI CARAMBA! If you don't wash it afterwards it's bound to be rusting through in one winter.
