Front heavy vehicles do stop quicker because the front wheels are the ones doing the most breaking and when there's more percentage of the weight in front, they stick better.
They are indeed, more prone to rear end sticking out but on the other hand they will not understeer nearly as likely. This is a number one priority. Because if you understeer there's nothing to be done but hit the clutch and hope you get the traction back before the oncoming truck leaves you hanging at the electric wires. If you oversteer it's still possible to control the car so it's a more desirable possibility. And even if you fail, at least the truck won't crush you directly but just send you spinning(not that it's that much better then but it's something).

Lack of ABS does indeed cause immediate loss of traction in emergency braking and the braking power is not nearly as good in winter without it(considering it's not overly old ABS, those had some issues with braking power in winter). No arguments there, still, the car can be kept controllable without it.

More power does not mean you have less traction, in theory that is. In practice the amount of torque transferred with lower gears is ridiculously high so you'd need a starting gear with ratio that would spin the wheels slowly. Not going to happen unless you're driving a tractor. That leaves the clutch. You have it, it's meant to be used. Less gas is always a better option but in most torque heavy cars, like the mustang, it's going to slip even with little gas. So burn the clutch freely at winter. What the hell is a posi-traction? Googled, limited slip differential apparently. Oh, it will slip with most TCs too. Just look at the cars in traffic lights.

Actually, here people but weight in the bed to get more traction for RWD vehicles to not get stuck. Not to stop oversteer with front heavy vehicles. It does help it quite a lot, but the payoff isn't good enough when comparing issues with stopping time( and traction if it's a FWD).

I do think FWD cars are a lot better in winter than RWD ones. I just do not think the RWD ones are any less safe than the FWD ones are. They do take more practice to reach that point where they are as safe as the FWD ones though. But they can even be more safe due to the control of the rear with gas if you're good enough.

Because we can!

Voted Don't care. I can use a bicycle in snow, rain or sun shine. It is just different degrees of fun. Have had snow for over a month now, doesn't really bother me. The temperatures are much more bothersome than any snow.

They closed a lot of roads off for snow. The UK isn't used to it. I'm sure I already explained that. :P

doesn't cause so much trouble in Finland :P Probably becasue we are used to it xD
Well, I'm waiting that are we going to run out of places where to dump all the snow they gather...
Last year it caused big ruckus, we didn't have places wgere to dump the snow that was not needed xD

Well, for those who hate cold, I hate it when temperature outside goes over 22C >:(
I may lose consiousness if it goes over 28C... The -5C is just perfect, It is the perfect weather to move around in T-Shirt. I did that again today... Walked around in T-shirt the whole day when I was at school...

If they bothered to move it here it might be better. Walking home from work was terrifying as the back streets are just sheets of ice now, and its 3am. :/

Well, they remove some of the snow only in city areas :P Here is snow piles over 2m high... They just move most of the snow into one pile :P

Actually, they try to drive all the snow in the cities away to big lots in the fringe areas. The southern cities just lack the capacity to handle this amount of snow we've been getting, that's why it's still there.

Oh and Andu, use shoes with soft soles and you won't slip and fall that easily.

Not an option when they're work shoes. Luckily I'm not back in till next Saturday and the ice should have cleared up by then

Well, in Espoo they drive thesnow away only from few places like, Matinkylä, Espoontori/Entresse, Leppävaara, etc. areas

I hate snow. Cold and wet is the worst combination ever. Also, it is incredibly inconvenient. Plus, being in Texas, people think they are invincible in their 4x4 half ton trucks and they drive like the roads were clear and it was sunny outside, so it is also somewhat dangerous.

Hate it! Driving takes forever, road accidents spike (just today I saw another car on its roof), not to mention the constant need for shovelling.
Takes forever to melt and when it does it's worse than rain, not to mention more dangerous.

I want to change my vote to yes after using my bicycle in a snowstorm. It isn't all that fun while biking and bumping into all those tracks and jumping left and right. Yet it is fun once it is over, I also laughed a lot at the places I couldn't bike. ^^

Much more fun than biking in rain or sun.

Hehehe. I like that. Keeps you awake since you have to concentrate.
Only thing that annoys me is that the city dorks dump all the snow into the sidewalk in meter high piles. HOW DO THEY EXCEPT PEOPLE TO BIKE THERE!?!

Because we can!

They don't, they're actually saddistical bastards that want to see you fall a million times over! :P
