Do you like board games?
harpy:
like a few of them, I have come across some boring ones (all these ~civilisation and ~war board games, always fall asleep while trying to play these kind of games) so I can not say that I love all of them.

I love good board games. Haven't had much time since the late-90s or so, but I'm usually up for strategy games, especially learning new ones. Well, "new" to me, since I have a fondness for discovering ancient games from around the world. Mancala and Chinese chess, for examples.
Also like unusual variants on traditional games. I used to have a 3-D Chess board, which was three clear, full 8x8 boards stacked. As the link shows, there are several variants on that, including the Starfleet Tridimensional Chess ... damn I always wanted one of those boards.

There is a four player variant, as well as three- and five-player. And, there is Chaturaji. Also saw pentagonal board with five players set up like Chaturaji in my image searching just now.
When I was a kid (about 11 or 12), I developed a three-player board that was a large triangle using an isometric grid, similar to this one (scroll down to the 15th post in this topic for a picture). Here's a great page with several possibilities, including alternate movement for Trigon Chess, which (the alternate) is very much like I imagined in the early 70s. Until this last year, I had a "traditional" four player board (the exact version pictured), which was a mess of fun. A friend in Latvia has it now.
I'm looking forward to having the time and lifestyle that will allow me to collect and play these again.

Good board games are awesome... Monopoly imo is a very shitty board game. It's a "bored" game. Battle ship and mastermind was like that for me as well.
Settlers of Catan
Family Business
Risk (Maybe so less at times due to time constraints)
Saboteur
Blokus
Chess (haven't played in years, but I still have an award I won for playing siamese in high school. Defeated the teacher in the finals :P)
Careers/Life were good ones in child hood
Bananagram (or something like that) which is a modified game played with scrabble pieces
Sequence (quite fun, but very retro)
Big 2 (Hong Kong Style) - Prez/Asshole is a shitty game in the same league as monopoly
Hold'em (Is ok for casual, but not really within the board/card games that I consider great)
Munchkins
MTG
Twister
Dutch Blitz
Rummio/Rummikub (My friends in jr high brought it once to show others, I'd played before and after a single game, they banned me from playing with them because I was too good. ;_;)
Crainium
Taboo
Things
I've been finding card/board games are far funner than video games. You actually have time to enjoy and take your time and enjoy a beer with friends and chat etc. while playing instead of staring at a tv screen for hours being anti-social.
I still need to learn:
Power grid
Pandemic
Dominion
I grew up with board games and only went to video games as my family got richer. When you're poor, <3 garage sales.

I like board games (and card games too) but sadly, I don't have anyone to play with.
