Files are different sizes than reported on the website
(1/1)

So I've got a weird problem or maybe not even a problem. To explain what is happening I'll just give some examples:
According to BakaBT Hatsukoi Limited is 4.57 GB but on my computer it takes up 4.91 GBs.
According to BakaBT Kurozuka is 2.82 GBs but on my computer it takes up 3.03 GBs.
I could go on and on but you get the idea. So anyone know whats up with this? All the files play fine and seem the same but they're just bigger for some reason. If it matters I'm on Mac OSX 10.6 using Transmission 2.13.
Mirgond:
It could be a question of a) your hdd being fragmented (defrag that damn thing) b) your clustersize is to big on your partition: used space is bigger than it needed to be or c) just a problem with the display of your filesizes.
K7IA:
That is simply because 1kb = 1000 bytes in mac osx. So 4.57 gb x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 4.91 x 10^3 in mac
Freedom Kira:
You're sure you're reporting the actual file sizes and not the amount downloaded in Transmission? If you are reporting the latter, that number is not indicative of file size.
I also doubt Mac would make the GiB/GB distinction but if it does this is also a possible reason. BBT (and most computer-affiliated companies/organizations/sites/whatever out there) treats all file sizes as GiB but prints as GB. Seeing as the discrepancy appears to be proportional to the size of the file, this is quite possible, until you post more size differences that would disprove this theory.
... Guess K7IA beat me to it.

Ah thanks for clearing that up after checking a couple others it looks like it was just that. I did not know OSX handled GBs in that way.
