Warning from ISP
Soul Reaper:
A friend of mine was just recently warned by his ISP for downloading a torrent from a different site. This has me worried because we have the same ISP, but I shouldn't get in trouble for downloading from BakaBT since none of these torrents are licensed right?
Another question, if my friend went with a different ISP, would his previous warning just dissappear so he wouldn't get a "repeat offense" if he was caught again? I really don't know much about this stuff. Thanks to whoever can help.
Chiyachan:
All animation is licensed.
Enzedder:
Warning usually disappears. I doubt anyone transfers history from one ISP to another. >_>
As for animation. As Chiya said, all animation is licensed. We do try to avoid series that are actively patrolled by license holders such as Funimation however in saying that you are never 100% safe.
If I may inquire, what series was it that he was warned for?
undetz:
Well, first of all: What country are you in? And what ISP are you with?
Several countries have introduced "3 strikes" laws which mean you lose your internet if you're caught uploading copyrighted material three times. Are you in one of those countries?
Soul Reaper:
We live in the US in Oregon, I'm not sure if our state has the 3-strikes law, and our ISP is Quest. He got warned for downloading the first 4 season's of South Park. This has scared him enough that he's decided never to use torrents again. I admit i'm really worried too because I downloaded a similar torrent
