Warning from ISP

Freedom Kira:
So uh, I appreciate the fact that you did a forum search (or browsed till you found this thread) but do you need help with something?

Xiong Chiamiov:
He was pointing out, in a thread where we were discussing the probability of getting notices from your ISP, that he received one from a common American ISP for downloading a popular anime.  It's relevant.

Southrop:

--- Quote from: sosamo on January 19, 2011, 11:33:25 PM ---Hi guys, got my first warranty today from Charter in So Cal. It list the company that put in the complaint and the file you download.

Here is a brief breakdown.

Complainer:  TV Tokyo Medianet
File: Bleach 305 by Horrible Subs (FYI, i have been downloaded weekly since like episode 100:D)
Torrent site: Nyan

Now I have to rethink where and what I should download.

I think it's cuz of Crunchyroll. Probably losing money if ppl download the eps. instead of going through them.

No, it's because of TV Tokyo, as you stated in your own post. TV Tokyo is the broadcaster of the show, and as such, they do have some rights to the show. Crunchyroll only owns streaming licenses.

I got the same complaint from my ISP today. Although they did not reveal the company's name but revealed the tracker was nyaatorrent.

Most likely tvtokyo targetted a few popular anime trackers and mass-filed complaints (with, as you said, possibly crunhyroll as sidekick). Im in a country where nobody gives a fuck, law included, about that kind of stuff... they must be serious. Worst case scenario they'll target a few repeating offenders in the next weeks/months.

Don't be the unlucky one heh... It's pretty much harmless to us, they have more to do than individually send lawsuits to everyone. They might go at it randomly on the MANY who ignore those warnings for a long time then report about it to scare people off.
