Check the online shop. Seriously. Doesn't refresh often, but there's some oddballs for sale there.

Grab a bigger pool of cash. Rarer stuff will pop up, but you still need the level to actually buy it. I recommend playing the 2nd race in the professional group. (Name escapes me atm). German cars only, but you get like 40k per round (approx 6 mins) and the highest HP car in that race is only 200HP. (assuming you're around at least level 10-15)

Save up, buy the GTR '07, deck it out, and then there's a tuning race I think it was, for about 4 mins of driving you get approx 50k. Save up and begin buying stuff.

Damn, even at 700HP, the GTR is faster than a lot of cars with equivalent or higher HP.

Man, I HATE the stupid Gran Turismo Formula !!!
Driving it without a Wheel is (almost) impossible !

I'm gonna have to buy one soon ...

No it's not. You just have to learn more skills. Try the classic Japanese 1980s race and try beating it upgrading only power to 150-160HP on a Hachi Roku or levin and no transmission, clutch, flywheel etc. upgrades. It'll take a few tries to figure it out, but you'll find a way to learn how to go into a corner fast, and exit fast. That'll help you learn how to maintain a higher top speed. (I find it much more interesting to try and learn than doing the license tests) I find the Eunos (Miata) and the mr2 are the biggest challenges but most fun. They accelerate faster than you can with 150HP but the computer is too gentle in the corners. If you're too gentle in the corners or you keep taking bad lines and losing a lot of speed, expect to lose at time rates between 6-9 seconds. But learn how to figure out the lines and maintain speed, you should be able to win by up to around 3 seconds. (controller)

Oh yeah, no tire upgrades either. That makes a mile of difference as well. Such tests should also help you learn to drive F1 later on as well.

It feels like playing singleplayer with upgraded cars is super boring, since when can I use a 550HP BMW 1 series?
