There are ways, both legal and not so legal, to acquire SRW games, even outside of Japan. For english specifically, there's long FAQs that exist for most of them that translate the story to the best of their ability dialogue by dialogue. Mostly though, if you know the robot series, you can guess what's happening even without understanding it. :P

I personally went through Super Robot Wars MX on the PS2 just before I learned of this news, so I know. The biggest hurdle is learning the interface, but once you figure out what each option do, it doesn't matter that you can't read them.

Some SRWs also have been romhacked with an english translation, the latest being SRW J.

There are ways to enjoy these amazing examples of robot fanservice that will never ever leave Asia because of annoying licensing nightmares. :)

YESSSS!!! ;D My friend and I have been waiting for a game with ttgl in it. Thanks for telling me cause I never would have found out by myself. It would be amazing if they put it into the next Another Century's game. I got episode r cause it had Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, and Macross Frontier, but it would have been 1000 times better if they put Gurren Lagann in it.
The only problem I have with a game that says they are going to do that is that I don't think that they will quite be able to capture the whole epicness of ttgl.

Again having played SRW MX, which features Evangelion, RahXephon, G Gundam, GEAR Fighter Dendoh, Machine Robo: The Revenge of Cronos and Hades Project Zeorymer, among other series, I can say without a doubt that they will be able to match TTGL's epicness.

In fact, in one mission in MX in particular, whichI believe is a Getter Robo mission, at some point in the fight, Domon's God Gundam and Rom Stohl's Vaikungfu vanished which made me panic since they're both top tier robots. A few robots killed later, there was an epic Rom Stolh intro that made the bad guys panic, and then God Gundam, Vaikungfu and the now-fixed Getter Dragon reappeared on the other side of the enemy base to take on the 3 biggest bad guys the big boss had just summoned. The level of epic of that scene was incredible, and indeed just having those 3 awesome robots just taking out the biggest and meanest monsters on their own was epic(and it wasn't too hard for me, having fully upgraded God Gundam and Vaikungfu :D)

For the record, I never saw Machine Robo: The Revenge of Cronos(But how MX made me want to) and I could tell just how epic the main character is, even though I had no idea what he was saying. If there is one thing TTGL will not be missing in SRW Z-2, it will be epicness, you can count on that.

I'm also pretty certain they'll make Gurren Lagann be on the level of GaoGaiGar and Zeorymer, both known for being the undoubtedly most powerful robots in the games they star in.  GL can fix itself with willpower alone and destroy a ridiculous number of small fries at once on its own(something it has done quite frequently, I might add). Then there's of course, Giga Drill Breaker~

The only robot series I still want to see in a SRW game now(as in, after Z-2 is released) is Zegapain, because those mechs look really awesome too. And more recently I think Star Driver would be FABULOUS in a SRW, but that would be really hard to justify in a SRW storyline, and it would take at least 3 years for it to happen anyway. More SRWness to look forward to eventually I guess~

I was like O_O I had no idea tekkaman was in SRWJ
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.
