Genuine Hori screen protector?

(1/1)

kenshin-dono:
Hey guys, i wound up picking up some Hori screen protectors from Japan for my DS lite. I guess they're the best ones so i picked some up from play-asia. The problem is that I wanted to verify they are indeed genuine Hori products, not knock offs. And i have no idea how to put them on!

I watched this video here:

and it seems to match the 'real' one except for the fact that the screen wipe is awfully small, which has me concerned. Can anyone tell if mine is genuine or not? (pics at the end)

I also need to know how the heck to put these on. I know some people speak Japanese here, so i scanned the instructions and put a link at the bottom of the page. Can anyone look it over and tell me how this works? Or maybe someones put these on before and knows what goes where. I can get a vague idea from the pictures but i dont want to screw anything up. Id rather hear from someone who did it before or can actually read the instructions.

Oh, and can anyone tell me what the big red caution text says?

Here it is:

tnx guys

TBH, does it matter if it's not genuine? You'd send it back?

Most of the youtube videos seem to be full of people who are amateurs/noobs putting on a screen protector

What you really need.

1. Screen cloth
2. Screen protectors
3. Scotch tape (I saw sellers in HK use random brands)

so... what to do.

1. Clean screen with cloth till you see no dust or anything (as well as you can anyways)
2. Apply the screen protector as you see in the vid. Peel a corner of the plastic (not all), stick the corner and push across slowly across. Pull off and reapply if necessary, but do so slowly.
3. Take 2 pieces of scotch tape. Use 1 to lift protector, use second and stick any dust particles that you may see under the protector. (Main reason you get air bubbles). LIft and stick, lift and stick. (lifting doesn't need much replacement, sticking one may need to be replaced several times). Do so until all dust particles are gone.
4. Flatten out with a CC or something like that but generally this step is not necessary if you got all the bubbles out, just wipe with microcloth to give a little pressure. If you see bubbles, 99% of time it's a dust particle, and a CC merely squashes the sticky stuff on the particle and sometimes makes the particle shift.

Most vids don't have steps 3 and 4.

Think this, but go as far as you need. The "pros" were removing particles as they slowly moved the protector down and unpeeling the protector to do it, but I saw some of them put the whole thing down and then lift it back up (more common). I'd recommend the latter since you don't know what to do and allowing the sticky part to touch your hand is even worse since fingerprints can show up underneath.

yes it matters very much if its genuine, the cheap ones get scratched up easily at best, and at worst will damage your screen.

hmm interesting video. Im a bit confused about something though. The 2nd piece he used to get dust out. Does that go face up (with sticky side on protector) or face down (with sticky side on the screen). Im assuming sticky side up. You also say in step 2 to apply the screen protector as seen in the vid.. what vid? The one you linked to didn't show it being applied at all. Im actually not clear on how to actually lay the protector down in the first place now. Whether i play it all down then pull the back off. Or put one side down the slowly smooth it out bit by bit, or what. Oh and on your step 4.. what do you mean by 'flatten out with a CC' Whats a CC? Blea, this is why i wish there was a clear video out there on how to do this. Or i had english instructions to read.

I guess no one can translate the warning text or anything. I dont even know which is for the top and which is for the bottom screen from the tabs! The tips you give help a bit but now im even a bit more confused on how to set this properly. I may just order the american hori protectors from amazon. That way i can read the instructions at least. I figured thered be at least a few people here who used a hori screen protector on their DS

BTW no one commented on if they knew if the pics i posted were a real one or a fake one. Everything about it looks real except im a bit leery about the small cloth.

Hmm... must have missed posting it. Oh well. Just look it up.

CC = credit card.

Seriously though, the chances of a screen protector damaging your screen are very small.

Seriously though, did you truly focus so much on the cloth that you failed to notice the different color stickers? The friggen yellow warning sign sticker thing with red remover vs the blue and white remover?
