Seeding Question

(1/2) > >>

jayjay19:
I've been downloading torrents to my computer and then moving the files to my external hard drive so i can plug it into my tv and watch them. I've also renamed the folders but not the files. Is there still a way to seed them now since I've changed them?

Soryon:
As long as your torrent client can have access to the files being seeded then you are golden.
I personally have 4 HDs on my computer (8TB total), but I only run torrents off of one of them. No reason to have shit active if it does not need to be.

jayjay19:
oooh. so you just tell it where to find the file and it'll seed?

Al_Sleeper:
In short, yes.

Xiong Chiamiov:
Some clients allow you to specify a different folder name, while other only allow you to specify where the folder is located.

For instance, say I'm downloading the Rabbit-Force Clannad AS torrent.  It is currently located at '/media/storage/leeching/[Rabbit-Force]_Clannad_-After_Story-_[DVD_H264_AAC]'.  If I move it to '/media/storage/anime/[Rabbit-Force]_Clannad_-After_Story-_[DVD_H264_AAC]', I can still seed the files (after notifying the client), but I cannot if I move it to '/media/storage/anime/Nagisa_Sucks_lololol'.

I'm not sure which clients support renaming (rather than just relocating).

I use symlinks to create an easily-browsable alternate directory.  You can use shortcuts or NTFS symlinks to achieve the same thing in Windows.  There are probably Explorer extensions written for symlinks so you don't have to drop into the command prompt.
