Potential ratio problem
« on: January 20, 2011, 11:53:48 PM »
Hi guys, I registered here a few days ago. Before I registered, I had downloaded Freedom so of course all seeding wouldn't count towards my ratio, so I re-downloaded the torrent so it would.

Of course, I didn't re-download the files as that would be wasteful. Now though, because I have done very little downloading of this torrent (720kb currently) but I've uploaded 60mb, my ratio for that particular torrent is nearly 85!

What I'm wondering is, am I going to be flagged for stat-hacking or anything of the sort?

Thanks guys.

If you, like, read the Wiki, specifically the part that gives you some recommended methods on how to fix your ratio, I think the answer will be rather clear. Just in case blubart didn't make it clear enough yet. But of course, you were supposed to have read the Wiki before posting a question.

I read quite a bit of the wiki, and a few things on the forums about stuff like this and that's why I was worried. The wiki doesn't speak of specific circumstances like this one. The way my problem was playing out, I was just worried it was going to be flagged as stat-hacking. The ratio for the torrent I spoke of currently 960, haha.

Thanks heaps though guys, I'm not worried anymore.

I was saying that there is a particular method recommended in the how to fix your ratio section that is exactly what you have done, assuming I am interpreting your situation correctly. Obviously, recommended practice is not disallowed and will not get you banned.

Unless you mean you downloaded it off the public tracker, which isn't recommended practice and may or may not be listed in that section, but is still allowed. Otherwise, downloading off the public tracker wouldn't be allowed (duh...) and we would be a fully private tracker instead of semi-private.

Bottom line, it doesn't matter where you get your files. Stat-hacking isn't having zero or abnormally low download, it's having a ridiculous upload. Besides, who's to know you didn't download the torrent during the freeleech period?
