Today I read it's going to be distributed by Steam, and only by Steam.

...how could you even believe that? that's like saying that mass effect 3 will be only distributed on steam, nothin against steam myself, but duke nukem forever is a MAJOR title, you'll be able to get it anywhere
http://www.amazon.com/Duke-Nukem-Forever-Pc/dp/B002I0JAJ2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1297932836&sr=8-2
oh look, after 5 seconds of searching I found a hard copy you could find, and it's probably gonna be translated into every major language (or has been already) if you're foreign and thats what you're meaning

Great! So you can buy a disc! It still requires you to register for Steam and activate the game there. You're tied to a network you have no control over. A network that censors games in my country and makes it impossible to play with people who live abroad. A network that won't allow me to register a copy I ordered from abroad to avoid the censorship. FUCK Steam.

Although i dislike any sort of internet related Copyright Protection cuz I believe it just makes it so much easier to crack, of all of those I think Windows Live is the best option, I have no problems playing many games like Warhammer 40k+CR with even guys from Philippines, and sometimes playing such games with some people that are complete nuts is so much fun, speaking of nuts, my DK Tanking is like Natsu Fighting lol
Rush in, whoopass, heal what healers couldn't heal in time with bandages :D
My Guildies love playing with my tank cuz at least it's fast and fun, not always safe heheh :D
I always remind them they should be thankful I don't have a warrior tank ... yet XD

If they think Steam will satisfy them with DNF, I can expect a crack early after release.

I thought only Valve games bought on disc requires you to register on Steam. Other games just have such option. Well, I don't really use Steam or even buy recent games on PC so I don't really know how it is now.

Why not just get a crack?  You bought the game legally anyways.

Bwhahaha, the simple solution! Plus what country censors a game to that point? I mean I understand half the fun of Duke Nukem is all the stuff that usually gets censored... but wouldn't getting a crack solve that problem?

Germany does and Steam complies, which leads to the problems I mentioned above. A crack is likely to interfere with online multiplayer which makes up a big part of the fun, if worse comes to worst and they take the Starcraft2 option of not even including LAN-support I'd be completely screwed.

I often do install no-CD cracks for games I've bought in order to keep the discs in top shape for as long as possible, but if the choice is between a crack or multiplayer, I'll go with the latter.

I disagree on the Online play. Original DN was solely SP, and you would play the damned game several hundred of times only to see titties, alien crap on the floor, and Duke's Sarcasm.
That is what you play the game for, Online play is shitty these days anyways.

Except for getting together with a couple of friends and blowing each others to smithereens back in the day... mmm, good times.

now that's some way to inform fans, that was original :D
if other companies had guts to do it like they did there would be less stress, less rage, less blood :D

At least it's only a month and a week... not indefinite. I mean at least they set a release date and tried to keep it, but they can't be changing it again.

We betting on whether it will be delayed again? I call your two cookies and double it... 4 virtual cookies on whether it gets delayed.

In all seriousness... Just no, it cannot be happening... then again.. would could all be in the processes of being Rick Rolled by them. I will Rage Quit on 2K and Gearbox if that happens.

Does this mean I owe someone one virtual cookie if Duke Nukem Forever is release on June 10th/14th, and I get 6 (or is it 7) virtual cookies if it is released on the 6th/3rd of May?

At this point the game is ready and just needs the final polishing. I am sure they will keep the next release date.

Duke Nukem was not the best thing about whacking aliens and stepping on them or their shit, it was the sarcasm, comedy and all the fucking stupid things about it that was so great, I so hope the game will not be censored at all, the VA seems to be the same, and it makes me happy, and yeah, after 12 fucking years, it should be !
The game starts off with Duke taking a piss. Literally, in a public bathroom, pissing. I think the humor is still there, but I fear they may be trying too hard.

I CAN'T WAIT 3D realms FOR LIFE!
3D realms isn't the main developer anymore. Triptych & Gearbox are making it, with multiplayer by Piranha.

Because I feel like it.
