I'm about as white an American as you can get (my ancestry, I've been told, is English, Irish, Scottish, German (I think), and (supposedly) Romanian).  That said, I'm a native speaker of American English.  I have 2 years of high school French under my belt, all of which I've forgotten, and I know a smattering of Japanese, picked up from anime & Rosetta Stone.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Fluent English and I can hold a conversation in Spanish but nothing too detailed.
I want to learn more. A few on my list~

Greek- Dad's side
Czech - Mom's side

Not too big of but Russian and Japanese  :-\

I'd probably go overseas for awhile though if I wanted to learn them.

English is the lingua franca after all.

The only language i know is English.  but i took classes in Spanish, and German.  Sadly,  I only know a handful of words from both those languages.  And I am picking up Japanese from anime.

The one phrase i make sure to remember in as many languages as possible is,  I don't speak your language.

French's my native language and English's my second but like many others here, I'm currently learning Japanese. At a rather slow pace, to my shame. :-[

Love how others do that mother tongue mistake too.
I tend to do it a lot too.
I consider mother tongue to be my native language, the language spoken by the people of the same ethnicity I am. Hence, it is Mandarin. However, as I only began to learn to speak when I was growing up in Australia, I actually learnt to speak English before Mandarin, which is why I make that distinction.

French is fluent (native speaker), rather above national level though  ;D
German is almost fluent (used to be, but haven't practised a lot lately), still able to perfectly read, watch TV and more widely understand the language in any form.
English is decent but used to be perfectly fluent (lost a lot of it due to insufficient practise not to mention it turned into some kind of weird british/american hybrid). Still good enough to watch most movies without subs.

Note : dreadful accent in all of them

Had a bit of italian, but forgot all of it.

FFFFFFFUUUUUU~!!!!! I failed the poll xD
Well, anyways:
Yes, I can hold a conversation in both Finnish and English and I can read Swedish :P I'm unableto write or speak Swedish though, I'm still studying it, and honestly, I suck :P
Well, I'm able to ask for directions etc. stuff inSwedish :P

So, I'm native Finnish speaker, I do speak fluent English and Swedish is my second national language :P Well, they do speak swedish in multiple places in Finland, and Swedish tourists have it easy in Finland... BUT you can speak Finnish every where :P

I'm French-Indian, and I have family in France... so, yeah, French.  Spanish was easy to learn, considering the similarities, as well.  I'm barely passable in Korean and Japanese, autodidactically.

Three languages fluently, understand (but do not speak) other scandinavic languages.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Do I remember correctly when I say you're from Norway??

and my guesses for the languages you can speak fluently are; English, Norwegian and German?
(well, you said that you only understand other Scandinavic languages :P So Swedish and Danish are out :P)

Native is American English

i know enough Japanese to survive and get around fairly well in Japan, and I'm still studying it in a lazy sort of way.

i also took 5 years of french in high school so I remember a little of that, enough to get the general idea of something if I read it, but speaking it is probably impossible except for a few phrases.

And... "I'm sorry, I only speak Cantonese" in Mandarin
